A small but intimate space full of nicknacks and nautical memorabilia, Friendly staff do their best to accommodate you. The food was good and a fair price. I had the fish pie and would go back again. It closes at 9PM so get there early
Excellent food and service! Went here one night and it was so good we came back the next night. Friendly and fast service even when busy. The manager also bought us a drink which was a really nice surprise.
My boyfriend and I passed by this place after a boat ride in Ilfracombe and it immediately caught my attention! We didn’t immediately go in as we wanted to explore and check the area first before deciding where to eat and We ended here! I love the ambiance and how they decided the interior design from the sofa to tables and those hanging stuff! The combination of colours too! Feels like you’re in Pirates place! Food was good and not pricey for a touristy place! Service was okay, one of the ladies was really nice and one wasn’t. Looking forward to try their Lobster next time!
Ahoy there! Avast ye, matey! The Smugglers restaurant be lookin' like they got a hold of a free barrel of varnish and went wild with it. Everywhere ye look, the walls, the tables, be so shiny ye could see yer own reflection! The service was shipshape, but the grub... well, let's just say the fish pie was as bland as the brine and the mixed grill was just alright. For a steep price of £26, it weren't any better than what ye'd find at Wetherspoons. And to top it off, they didn't even have real chips! It be like the decor was stuck in a time warp from the 70's. Aye, it may be a smuggler's paradise, but it's not worth walking the plank for.
We had no reservation so we had to wait 40 mins for our table, but it's worth it. Nice romantic place with delicious food and good size portions.
Lovely eating place, right by the inner harbour. Can be very busy here, so the staff may take your mobile number & call you when a place becomes available, please stay nearby because it’s a superb little restaurant with a varied menu, & very worth the wait. Also the staff are friendly & service excellent.
Such a lovely place. The decor is fabulous. I had salmon and my husband had the hot seafood platter. Both perfectly cooked, delicious and served quite quickly and with a smile. The staff are really nice people too.
Comfortable seating and we had a view of the quay. Friendly and attentive staff The fish pie was lovely. The roast lamb was a little tough in places but it was minor and we'd be very happy to return.Recommended dishesSeafood
Loved this very nautical place. Lovely food for 2 adults and 2 children during an Easter break. Great food and service. Well worth a visit whilst in Ilfracombe.Food: 5/5
Lovely surroundings and very cosy. Everything we ordered was good quality pub food. Kids roast dinner was a big success. Chicken pie was great. Wife's lamb shank was polished. Sword fish was a bit tough. Recommend this place to anyone visiting.
