The Sandpiper is a very nice pub with nice surroundings but is let down by the food so I'm going to say very disappointing. I had the Mexican Chicken Burger, although the chicken breast was succulent the salsa sauce was so salty I had to scrape it off to even attempt to eat it. The burger is so big I had to eat it with a knife and fork as it just collapsed which meant the paper lining on the plate was tearing and sticking to the burger whilst cutting it. My wife had Scampi and she said its the first time shes had stringy scampi that was tough to cut. My son had a cheese burger which he enjoyed, but hey hes only 9 years old and has a lot to learn about good food. And the tomato sauce bottle on the table was filthy as you can see by the pictures, so we didn't use it. And finally none of the staff came to ask us how the food was, because if they had I would not have left this review in fairness.
The menu had an extensive choice. First time we visited fur a while and we were impressed. Good ale choice and selection of lagers on draught. I had the gammon which was very good and the fish was tasty too. The chips were chunky and home made with the skins on. Staff welcoming. You just order at the bar and give your table number.
Went to watch the rugby. Good atmosphere. Bar staff friendly and efficient. Beer is well kept and my Birra Morettis were lovely.... Pity about the result!
The food is fine, but the false advertising outside lets it down. We went this Friday for the 2 Fish n Chip meals for a tenner as advertised on the front of the pub to be told it no longer applies and management reserve the right to remove any advertised offers. Not really great customer service. A shame as in the past we've been well looked after here...
Went for sunday dinner lovely meal. Bar sevice was class girls were lovely. Beer garden was so relaxing to have a drink.
Called in here about 3 weeks ago as I had heard good things however, the food was the worst I've tasted in all of North Tyneside. Disappointed is an understatement, gammon couldn't be served as 'it was not good quality' which was stated by the chef himself, chicken came out completely dry, and the peppercorn sauce was best left wherever it came from. Sorry to say I definitely won't be going back and would highly recommend not going there if your wanting a nice sit down meal! Need to up your game Sandpiper!
Minging. Went for Sunday dinner, food was just awful. Never been served a Sunday dinner in a pub that was so mediocre. Staff just didn't care. The lad that brought our food brought one plate. Then went back for the next plate. Then went back for the cutlery. Then went back for the gravy. Then went back for the condiments. The lass who served me was sitting on the step of the main entrance smoking as we left. There was a mug on the bar that said "I work with c*nts". Sums it up. Proper little dive. Gorgeous sunny day. No one was sitting outside in the sun on the benches on our way in, and when we got inside, there was one table with people sitting. It was empty, on a Sunday afternoon, and it's in the middle of a residential estate. Says it all. I'm embarrassed that someone can run a business that way.
Nice pub to be fair, but really went there for the Pizza Van in the car park. Informed that no children in the bar or in the pub garden, however they were very kind and let us have a beer in the bar whilst we waited for the pizza. Thanks!
We thought with things getting back to some normality we’d treat ourselves to Sunday lunch at the Piper. We booked a slot, completed the check and trace, got our temperatures checked at the door before being shown to a clean table. Everything was looking good so far. We ordered one beef, one chicken dinner and a chicken goujons for the little one which she enjoyed but the beef and chicken dinners were unusual. 4 roast potatoes, cabbage, a huge Yorkshire pudding and what can only be described as watery blended “past the inch of its life” turnip with the look and consistency of baby food. No other vegetables were brought out or offered. The beef was dry and so tough it was a great workout for the forearms to cut and jaw to chew. The chicken was also dry and unappealing. We would have asked what happened to the turnip and was this a new twist on veg? But no one asked how the meal was even with 4 people working on the bar. The staff were disinterested in diners. To summarise, a very poor effort. We will not be returning to the piper for food again. On the plus side the Heineken was lovely and cold.
We went for a birthday get together, it was 6.30pm they had run out of homemade pie so a couple if us got the curry. When it came it was presented fab, but we both had to leave it it was quite thick and dry. Other than these 2 meals the starters and puddings were fine.
