We enjoyed the Lunch Tasting Menu at The Samling on Sunday. We were the only table seated at the time and we believe this was because of the poor weather the night before; however the background music was good, conversation with the staff flowed easily and the views over Windermere were tremendous. The food was excellent with various local ingredients and international influences through the seven courses. We didn't sample any of the wine unfortunately, but the soft drinks and mocktails we tried were very good - I also had an alcohol-free him and tonic as recommended to me by our waiter and we not disappointed. All in all we had a lovely afternoon at the Samling for lunch, were not disappointed at all, and can't wait to go back. Many thanks.

The first thing that strikes you here is the building, the grounds and the view - especially if you are lucky enough to come on a sunny day as we were. Everything inside is immaculate (apart from the cream carpet but you can forgive this!) This is a genuine 5* hotel and restaurant that is taking everything seriously - the staff were attentive and all but the sommelier were wearing a genuine smile (perhaps she was having a bad day?) The food was exceptional and immaculately presented; offering excitement for the eyes and the tastebuds in equal measure. Sadly you’re not allowed to eat outside (from the main menu, although sandwiches you can) - but the main dining area in the glass-walled extension still offered amazing views and the temperature was just right-something not all places manage on a hot day! We’ll definitely be back - highly recommended. 9.5/10 !

Everything was incredible. The best meal I've ever had... also the most expensive, but worth every penny, and more. The service was second to none. The view was beautiful, even on a rainy day. I can't really find the right word to describe the food, other than perfect.

We visited the Samling to experience the 7 course taster menu while on holiday in the Lakes over Easter. The food was inventive and beautifully cooked and all the staff were very attentive without being at all over bearing. The hotel is beautifully decorated throughout and we found the atmousphere to be very relaxed, particularly for such an up market place. The views over the lake from the restaurant are amazing. What a fantstic way to spend two and a half hours

You really do get what you pay for. The food, drink and service here were truly excellent, as was the view. We had the 7 course vegetarian menu and every plate was out of this world and each was a suprise.
