The service today was very slow in terms of getting served by the team. It was quick to receive the main meal but it took a long time to get dessert and a drink I had ordered. I never even received the drink! The food quality was fine but the Bakewell tart was served cold. The pub was clean and tidy. I saw other customers complaining about the waiting time and it is evident they were short staffed and needs to be a key improvement point in the future. I would not consider visiting again but ever since I last visited 2 years ago it has got worse.
Lovely character pub with very friendly staff. Food was absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend and go back again! Very satisfied customer.
Why bother with the menu at all? At the point of ordering off a menu in a restaurant it’s always a good policy to advise the customer that you don’t have certain items ... I ordered Ciabatta with Smoked cheese, prosciutto and roasted pepper. What I actually got was some over toasted brown bread, Bacon and gherkins! There’s almost an arrogance by the chef that wouldn’t be spotted. Under normal circumstances it would’ve gone straight back, but unfortunately the wait to have our order taken, and the time it took for the food to come out precluded that. Not a good dining experience at all
This pub was a charming country pub within a short distance from the safari park by car. We were greater with a warm welcome by all the staff and were greated to our table. The staff were very attentive with taking our order, and were very kind to the children. We took advantage of their 3 course dinner option. The standard of food for the price was exceptional; good quality and well presented. Along with speedy food service. The children enjoyed the outside slide and playground after food before heading home. Family friendly venue and well organized
Nice relaxed meal with efficient and polite staff. Didn't have to wait and food was amazing. Would definately recommend visiting. Multiple visits now and always great service, tasty food and good drink choices. Can recommend the Sunday roasts. Katie our server was polite and gave very good service.
Arrived early evening / late afternoon on a Saturday. Managed to get a table for a family of 4, which is not bad given it was holiday season and this pub is a short 5 min drive from safari park down the road. Staff were friendly, venue was nice, and food options were good. Food itself was nice, everyone enjoyed it. A little pricey but not bad given location. Only downside was service was a little slow. Several staff working but after our food had come out there were delays between coming back to clear the table, offering and taking dessert options, and then clearing and bringing the bill. Had to go up to the bar a couple of times. Staff were always polite and helpful. Overall, pleasant visit, good food, just a bit slow. As an aside, clearly dog friendly sadly we'd left dog at the house, with water and snacks, and dogs welcome in the bar.
BEST sirloin steak I've had. the waitress was very nice and polite. Service was a bit slow but acceptable.
Booked for a meal on Tuesday 30th Nov. The pub was clean but where we were sat was very cold, you could see the gaps in the doors to the garden. The staff were distracted and quite abrupt, not even stopping sometimes to listen to our requests, just shouting at us on their way past. Apart from the issues with service the food was delicious and we'd definitely go again.
Visited here with some friends, had to wait almost an hour for our food, one of us had a meal that appeared overcooked and we had to send it back, the other meals were not that good either, they were on the cold side so much so that the garlic butter didn't even melt on top of the steak, the premises was not very warm at all and the service itself was really slow. I don't think I would be going there again.......very disappointed
I meet a friend at Running Horse every other month and it's midway between where we live so the most important asset is location. It seems to have simplified its menu somewhat as we used to be swamped by a plethora of different ones, lunch special offers etc. We prefer simplicity and there are enough changes in dishes to make for variety. It's a comfortable place, friendly staff and efficient service as well as comfortable easy chairs where we enjoy a coffee and chat by the fire if its lit. Altogether it suits us and we'll continue to visit.
