The Royal Oak
"Located smack in the centre of the exuberant Columbia Road, The Royal Oak is Bethnal Green's pub of choice. With its bustling flower market on Sundays, it's everyone's favourite place to duck into to escape the big crowds. The original interior, secret backyard and friendly team add to the homely feel, making us your snug neighbourhood hang-out and families' go-to. While downstairs bar is a hive of activity, the upstairs offers cracking Sunday Roasts and only the best of British classics. Expect no-nonsense pub grub and impressive selection on the beer front. Ideal for catching up over a pint, all-important family get-togethers or a quick stop on the way back from the busy market."

Never had a bad experience here. Lots of local charm and personality; you wouldn’t tell it’s part of a pub chain! Good choices on the beer front and we’ll executed classic cocktails, along with great food. The chips were 10/10.
Hoxton  £5.75 Prahva A picture postcard East End boozer. . Set in the heart of Columbia Road and for me the centrepiece of Columbia Road flower market is The Royal Oak. Hoxton overground is your nearest station which is just a ten minute walk away. . This Bethnal Green boozer was built in 1923 and is Grade II listed. This pub may look familiar to you as it has appeared on TV in Goodnight Sweetheart and on the silver screen in both Kray Twins films. . This pub has been altered a little but still retains enough of its period features to give you a feel of this pub’s heritage. At the centre of the bar is an island servery which is surrounded by a parkay floor which is framed by beautiful oak panels which clad the walls. At the back of the pub is a cosy walled courtyard garden. . The beer line up is fairly straightforward with lots of mainstream favourites. I had a Pravha which was a nice pint and cost under six quid. The food is popular here, plenty of punters were tucking in to the British pub classics menu, Fish & Chips costs £18 which is a bit pricey by comparison. . The atmosphere here was great on this Saturday afternoon, there was a good mix of clientele in enjoying time in this charismatic pub. If you are visiting on a Sunday be mindful that the flower market is on so it will be extra busy. . The @royaloakcolumbiaroad is one of East London’s most famous pubs primarily because of its appearance and location. The East End has lost so much of its character and characters, this makes these pubs so important as reference points of what once was. . ℹ Info correct on visiting 22/10/22
This is the local water hole! Great food, drinks and atmosphere. I was back here 3 times over the 3 days I was in London
Lovely place! The private hire room was so cozy and a perfect place for a birthday Sunday roast. The food was nice and the girl that served us too. Her name was Chas not sure about the spelling. Really recommend it.
Not sure if hidden but a true gem! I love having burgers whenever I’m visiting a city and I would say that the best one I’ve ever had was in the Royal Oak. Staff is super friendly and the pub has a very positive energy in general. Super recommended!
Still a fantastic pub in a great part of town. Pleasant bar staff and great selection of drinks. Can't help thinking of the pub 22 years ago when it opened 5am Sunday morning and all clubbers descended on it after the Joiners Arms etc...chaos. Lovely pub and memories- GO!
Not bad for a Young's pub, food was average, had a couple of half-decent beers on, and is in a good location. Is a very nice, proper old school kind of boozer inside - but run in a too modern way.
Been here many times and always been fantastic. There is always a great atmosphere and the staff are super friendly. Sunday roast is cracking too. Highly recommend.
Lovely pub, excellent location - quite busy as expected on a Sunday but we had booked in advance. The team were wonderful, the food hit the spot, would go back for sure!
We had an amazing meal at the Royal Oak on Friday 1st Dec, excellent food, the steak was the best I have ever had. The team were really friendly, superb atmosphere, we will be visiting again :
