An absolutely delightful pub with a wonderful landlord and landlady who were so friendly and helpful as were all the staff. Food delicious, well presented and reasonably priced. Our room was lovely with a view of the castle. A lot of thought had gone into it with special little touches. Absolutely spotless establishment which I would highly recommend.

Lovely little pub with a good friendly atmosphere. The rooms are to a very good standard and a lot of thought has gone in to them. Coffee machine in room is a great plus for me. Would certainly visit again.

We used to go to the Royal Oak for Sunday lunch on a regular basis mainly for the steak & ale pie, it was brilliant, however the last time we went, 2 to 3 years ago it had been taken over by two guys, the portions were much smaller than they used to be and the pastry had been changed to flakey instead of shortcrust, I was told that the chef had been dividing the pie into 24 portions instead of 20. I complained to one of the new owners and he did not charge for it. We haven't been back since as I don't fancy a 60 mile round trip to be disappointed again

Stayed for one night with my husband. The room was clean but the bed was very hard and unfortunately we were kept up till 1am by the loud music and people downstairs, the music apparently gets turned down at 12 but it didn't. The staff were nice and the food was delicious. The room was very overpriced for what it was so wouldn't return as an overnight guest but would go for drinks and food.

Very polite landlord made this visit a delight. Food or should I say Sunday roast was delicious as were the beers which the landlord let me have a sample of the new beer.
