Within throwing distance of the station if you're waiting for your connection. Great sun trap and decking area to the front as well. Nice pint of local ale too as participating in the "Atlantic Coast Rail Ale Trail."Location: 5/5
Just recently stayed at this place the staff are really friendly and go out of their way to help in any way. The whole place is spotlessly clean. The breakfast was excellent with a very good variety. I would have given 5 stars but there were a few issues.
Lovely gem of a pub, dogs welcome in lower bar area. Clean, tidy and very friendly staff. Great choice on menu, we had large fish & chips and vegetarian lasagne, great value for money!Service: 4/5
Went for a few days for my birthday, can't fault anything. Rooms, staff, food, staff awesome and then a brilliant band. Will make this a 'go to place' and highly recommend The Royal ' to anyone. FabulousRooms: 5/5
Went for a meal with the family and it was stunning. Good size portions and perfectly cooked. Our waitress Ella was knowledgeable and witty, she made a wonderful evening perfect. Highly recommend this place.

Excellent meal here. I was part of a large group pre ordered. Service couldn't have been better. Food was top notch. Highly recommend. This was a lunch outing.
We've stayed here a number of times over the last 15 years or so and have always had a good experience. If looks like they've had a recent makeover to provide more modern amenities. The room was nice, if a bit tight; modern fixtures in the bathroom. Bar area is nice with the usual number of locals. Beers are fine. Looks like new cabana areas outside. Parking is tight; we had to park on the road on previous visits. It is a but pricey but not surprising. Breakfast was more than ample almost too much, but of good quality. Staff were very pleasant. We understand the owners over the last few years, who financed the makeover, will be handing the reins over to a staff member who has been here for over 15 years so, hopefully, things should continue as they are. Overall a very nice place to stay.

We stayed one night in the hotel and also had dinner. We were very happy with the friendly, but professional approach. The hotel room was great and food was very good. The steak and ale pie was a real treat! I'd definitely recommend.Rooms: 5/5
