Heard some great things about Rupsha, but perhaps we caught them on a busy night. Food was above average for Bristol, portions were modest We had quite a large party so had to sit on 2 different tables, would have preferred one larger table as we had booked a few days in advance. Having said that, the food was well presented and there was a good variety of dishes.
Terrible. We had a large party booking of 40 people so we were required to pre order. We left 2 and a half hours later without having eaten any curry as we couldn't wait any longer. As we were asked to pre order we assumed the food would arrive promptly. When we complained and asked for our money back as we had also pre paid the owner offered us a discount of 10%! He then increased this to 25% before agreeing to refund us.
Surprisingly Good. Rupsha is a gem of a restaurant in amongst some good and not so good similar style eateries in Clifton village. My wife and I decided to go Indian in a rare dinner out without the little people. Without booking a table on a Friday in Clifton Village can be a bit sticky, as we found out, being turned away from our first choice Curry Brunel Raj. We decided to have a look at what else was to offer and Rupsha just happened to be one of the options. On entering you do start to wonder if you have made a wise decision, although being busy and mostly full keeps you buoyant and hopeful. The place certainly needs a bit of attention on the interior, however, that is not why we were there, so we let the food do the talking. The food presentation could be described as fusion or modern as the starters came out on fancy plates with garnish and a drizzled jus of some description. Exactly opposite of what I was expecting considering our surroundings. The starters were very good, the main course was absolutely delicious. We ordered 2 starters, a main course each, plus a naan and a rice, 2 beers and a sparkling water, all for £35. When we got the bill, along side the obligatory 'after eight' we received a complimentary cocktail no choice involved which was again tasty and unexpected. In summary, fabulous value, good service, tasty food. We will definitely return. Nice one Rupsha!
We visited the Roopsha using a deal voucher. The starters were ok but the main courses were very disappointing. The meat was unidentifiable little cubes – maybe frozen? It didn't taste fresh at all. Sorry, I won't be back.
We were seated in the back room up the stairs. Its got no windows and is lit by blueish strip lights. The food was OK, the waiter was in a rush. Probably would have enjoyed it more if i'd gone on a quiet night or taken my food out but overall not great.
Had a lovely meal there today. We went due to a Groupon deal, but would certainly go again because the experience was wonderful. Food was absolutely delicious, the staff were amongst the friendliest I have met and the service was fast and attentive.
Cold, very small portions, surprising extra costs on top of Groupon voucher. Manager arguing with customers. Horrible experience!
Great food, friendly service. Our favourite Indian in the area. Try the masala fish broth.
