The River Wyre

Visited 7.30 Sunday. No roasts left. Ordered fillet steak which we had to send back as had a funny smell. Burger over cooked and really dense. Fish cold. On positive children's meal good and demolished by grandchild. Waitress was pleasant and helpful. This was really disappointing as all previous visits we have had good meals. We wont visit again for a while.

I'm leaving an appalling review. Not because the food was bad. It was actually quite good. The service could be a lot better though as asking your patrons to go to the bar to order more drinks when they're halfway through a pricey meal is wholly inadequate. I'm leaving a bad review because Google incessantly asks me every time I stop in a place of interest, to leave a review... and there is no option whatsoever in my phone settings to switch this harassment off. Until Google change this, every place I visit will get an equally below par appraisal. The River Wyre... You can thank Google for your 1 star review.

I left a bad response review on here last week but for some reason it has been deleted so l will say again very disappointed took friends there hoping for a nice meal. The starter was nice we should have stopped there because the main was terrible my husband's fish an chips even looked bad curled up dried up fish told the waitress who just laughed my friend had the same her fish wasn't quite as bad but she didn't enjoy my hunters chicken was dry like it had been cooked for several hours l took home for our dog who chewed it as l couldn't and the chips were powdery inside. If we hadn't had friends with us l would definitely have refused to pay won't be returning sorry

Food was great, although we had to wait 50 minutes for the starters. I had to ask where they were as we had booked the table and ordered in good time. However, they sincerely apologised and entire staff could not do enough for us. Couldn't have asked for more.
