"Just off the South Downs Way, we are a good old fashioned country pub in the heart of Clanfield, offering ales, lagers, and a wide range of gins and spirits. We serve delicious, freshly cooked food throughout the day, all week, and the best roast dinners on Sundays. We have a cosy friendly indoor area with open fires and exposed wooden beams throughout. We also have an outdoor area to sit and watch the world go by long into the sunny evenings. We welcome families and we are dog friendly inside and out.Above our pub we have three comfortable clean rooms which we offer out on a bed and breakfast board. We're the perfect place for a pint and a bite to eat. We look forward to welcoming you!Ed and Kerry, Landlord and lady."

We visited for a roast dinner and it was more than we could anticipate. The service was slow but the manager was on top of it during this very busy period. We had the roast beef which was cooked perfectly and came with a huge yorkshire pudding and a great assortment of veg. All very tasty. Staff very friendly and helpful. Pudding was very good too. It was a little pricey but for the quality and amount it was spot on. I would go again and recommend going. Id like to also try the normal menu.
Bunch of us visited after a walk. Good selection of beers plus coffee and hot chocolate for the non drinkers. Excellent bowl of chips too. Other diners having lunch looked good. Good and friendly service. Can't score rooms as only in pub.Service: 5/5
Absolutely epic food. We had a table of 8 plus a child and the staff gave fantastic service and the food was incredible. Definitely recommend! Gluten free options were available including garlic bread and the pub is dog friendly.
Was okay had a burger and it came out raw in the middle I didn't get asked how the meal was once served as under staffed understood this then said about my burger at the end and got told this is how they come. I did not get asked how I would like it cooked. The lady that served us was lovely and got it taken of the bill. Would return here
Myself & partner visited this pub whilst touring the South Downs on our motorbike. We both had Roast lamb, and it did not disappoint. The lamb was tender, and there was ample portions, and the veg was cooked well. The portions were huge, I couldn’t squeeze in one of their homemade desserts. The staff were very accommodating As we hadn’t booked, very professional and attentive. The pub has a lovely atmosphere and is cosy. All in all we were very happy with our trip here and would recommend this pub.
Stopped for lunch after a long walk. Great welcome and great service. We had sandwiches ad chips which were all very tasty and niceService: 5/5
Don’t go to this pub unless you want to be insulted by the manager if you dare to complain, just endured the worst meal ever, my wife and I went to this pub for coffee, whilst were there we made arrangements for a meal in four days time, the young man that served us was polite and friendly, he showed us the menu I asked if steak was available he went to check he said they haven’t any at the moment but would have by the day we chose, l asked him if he would make sure that the steak was very well done my wife chose the barbecue rib he said no problem so we booked a table, from then on it was all down hill, we arrived for the booking on time went to the bar and found a suitable table, we were approached by who we know now was the manager, first my wife ordered the barbecue rib, next I ordered the pre arranged steak they said they would have in, I reiterated that I required the steak well done, five minutes later he came back and said that they have sold the last barbecue rib my wife had ordered, great! now she had to make another choice and there wasn’t a lot of that. When he finally arrived with the steak it looked well done at least on the outside when I went to cut it it was like rubber it was more than difficult trying to find any meat between almost 75% undercooked fat I wouldn’t feed it to a dog,l politely pointed out to him about the steak being un-edible he said it was a rib eye steak and that is how it’s meant to be and proceeded to print out the bill of £48.80 When I arrived home I was still annoyed at he’s lack of interest I phoned to speak to him again about the food, he was so rude it was unbelievable he said that is how it is and that I was a idiot for wanting it well done, the only thing well done was us the customer the worst customer service from a so called manager I’ve ever seen I didn’t ask for a rib eye steak in the first place in any event I would still expect it to be cooked terrible disgusting service
Had a few meals here over the summer and the food has always been absolutely top notch. Very friendly and efficient staff. Drinks menu is very good and reasonably priced. felt very welcome. A great place to spend an evening. Would recommend.
Lovely friendly staff and nice beers! Highly recommend the Neck oil and goodens gold!! However there seems to be a problem with their goodens gold as it evaporates very quickly... I didn't have food so I can't really give 5stars yet...
Have visited on a social event ,this time visit was due to a fire incident nearby .The hospitality of the staff and management was fantastic with offers of warm drinks and using the toilet facilities..thank you for all your support .most kind and appreciated.
