Awful experience. The kirkgate entrance has been left to rot whilst new food restaurants attempt to drum up business to little avail.nInside not much better, the place is cold all the time, tiles broken, toilets are a mess, one or the other lift is always out of service, the car park lifts are also out of action, and they have the nerve to charge for parking. Customer service desk always closed and staff seem non-existent. Very uninspiring range of shops inside which don't appear to get much trade, not many brands which customers know. Loads of empty units which have been for ages. The only saving grace is the cinema, which is great, but also struggling due to lack of support from management. Loads of random cafes instead of an actual food court with different food options.nnI believe the new owner also owns the Packhorse shopping centre in Huddersfield which is significantly better. Hopefully something is done improve this place because it used to be a fantastic place to visit.
Our inaugural visit to the cafe in Wakefield City Center unfolded as a pleasant surprise, marked by affordability and hearty portions. Although the name eludes my memory, the overall experience left a lasting impression.nnThe cafe proved to be a budget-friendly haven, offering a range of options without denting the wallet. We opted for a burger meal and a hot wings meal, enticed by the promise of satisfying our hunger without breaking the bank.nnThe portions were generous, a welcome sight for voracious appetites. The burger meal and hot wings meal arrived promptly, exuding tempting aromas that hinted at the flavors awaiting exploration. The affordability-to-portion ratio set the stage for what promised to be a fulfilling dining experience.nnThe first bites revealed a commendable effort in crafting enjoyable fare. While the flavors were commendable, the lack of a satisfying crunch was a notable point of consideration.nnDespite the minor crispiness setback, the food resonated well with my hunger-stricken state. The savory notes and ample portions compensated for the nuanced aspect, ensuring an enjoyable meal. It's a testament to the cafe's ability to deliver on the fundamental promise of satiating hunger at an affordable price.nnRegrettably, the cafe's name escapes my recollection, hindering the ability to give due credit to this hidden gem in Wakefield City Center. The overall enjoyment of the food and the satisfaction of a well-fed appetite make this establishment a contender for future visits. A hidden gem indeed, awaiting a more memorable encore. #WakefieldCafeExperience #AffordableEats
Such a shame this centre is becoming a little rundown. Trinity Walk has taken a lot of the attention since it's appearance. However the Ridings is a much better designed centre and a better atmosphere. The Trinity Walk is cold in bad weather with high roofs in the walkways, this, together with the uncovered areas makes for a most unwelcoming feeling. Such a shame, I hope some retailers will come and take up the vacant shops in the Ridings soon.
This place is fast becoming the jewel in Wakefield's crown again. It's so good to see how busy it is since the new owners took over. So much for the death of the high street, the problem lies with large corporates unable to understand shopper habits and what they want. This place has a cinema, places to eat, a diverse range of shops and a really nice play area for children, it's fantastic. I'm looking forward to what happens with the bottom level. Wakefield doesn't seem like a chore anymore, I look forward to calling in, getting a coffee, looking around the shops.
Didn't do much shopping as I went for a specific event, however there seemed to be a good selection of shops. My main criticism was the parking: entrance to the Red car park was very narrow & once inside not well sign-posted I actually tried to get in via the exit - lol. You get into the car park via the roof, which was confusing & the sign difficult to spot as you are looking into bright light from inside. Parking spaces are fairly good and not too narrow. Signage to get into the centre isn't great and to get to the entrance with lifts I am disabled is poor and you have to get across the roof car park to access it. This did not feel very safe as there are blind corners and some drivers seemed to think they were in a rally. Once inside the centre was clean & tidy and access readonable.
