Lovely gastro pub. I have been here on Valentine’s day, so I tried the tasting menu. Excellent. And great cosy atmosphere

The food and service were just amazing - incredible food - quite pricey but worth every penny and fantastic service - attentive but not intrusive. We were lucky they had a table as it was very popular (didn't think to book a rural pub mid week) but definitely booking again for a few weeks time.

The best food, great atmosphere' the staff were fun chatty and couldnt do enough , real fire in the bar. Very cosy restaurant. X

Great pub, nice decor, great food quality so clearly has a good chef. There is no lunch time menu so the food choices for a quick bite are very limited. 
As I said the food is excellent but the portion sizes versus price is poor. Tiny vegetable portions with mains leave you feeling a little disappointed and hungry. IE. one carrot, two tiny bits of broccoli with a main
Staff are all very polite and can't do enough.
Value for money though it really is 2 OUT OF 5

I had a really fabulous lunch today at the Red Lion. So unusual to find sweetbreads on a menu , in France or UK.
The strarter dish £8.50 was sweetbreads, wild mushrooms and spinach in a mustard creamy sauce. We asked for less cream which was no trouble for them... it was just delicious. My friend had the tempura prawns which were perfect( so she said, she wouldn’t give me any) I had a brilliant , not too thick fish soup wth rouille etc , again quite perfect. I have booked immediately for Sunday lunch.

I notice in previous reviews mention of small portions for the price.... I could not disagree more. Perfect sizes and reasonable prices. I live mostly in France and London and I would be hard pushed to match its quality. 

Also our host was utterly charming as was our Romanian and lovely waitress .
