Upgraded to a huge room with enormous bed and deep bath, luxury after a long day walking the Ridgeway. A little out of the way, though very handy to the Oxford Tube bus stop. Very good value. Breakfast reasonable. Dinners somewhat formal and rote but quite good.

I have spent an awful lot of time staying at this hotel. The rooms are large and all have large TVs, fridge and safes in each room. The food is always prepared to high standard whether it's a bar snack or 3 course meal in their restaurant. The staff are also great. Nothing is too much trouble and they always go the extra mile. I would highly recommend.

A truly awful experience. The staff don’t speak English and appear not to have been trained in customer service. Customers were chasing waitresses around the restaurant to get basics like ketchup or the food they actually ordered as opposed to were served as they do not look at the tables to see if you need anything. The man at the table next to us had to send his breakfast back. When ours arrived, the vegetarian sausages looked suspiciously like pork. When we queried this with a waitress we were told ‘yes, they are vegetarian’. We ate one and discovered they were pork. Since the manager doesn’t start working in the hotel until after the guests have had breakfast nothing was done to make amends. We were just left to complain to another waitress. Her excuse was that the waitresses ‘don’t speak English’ and are ‘shy ‘! We explaining that they need to understand enough English to cope with dietary requirements like nut allergies, food intolerances and peoples religious or moral dietary needs. If customers have an allergic reaction it could be very serious. I didn’t get the impression anything would be done though. In all my years of eating out, I can not remember a more unprofessional and inadequate level of service in a hotel chain than that provided by Mercure.

Tried to post a review before but it was not published. I guess this hotel ‘manage’ negative reviews. They served us meat when we told them we were vegetarian. The staff told us that they are sorry but there is no manager available at 9 am and they don’t speak good English and are ‘shy’

Stay for 1 night had a lovely time, nice chilled out location, we got a free upgrade to a huuuuge room (101) and ate in the restaurant where the fish & chips were also huge!!! Definitely recommend staying here to get away from it.
