Nice, large pub with lots of areas and a large bar located in theain Street in Tavistock. Nice staff, served us promptly and politely. Drinks not horribly expensive and you can order on the app to be served at the table. Didn't try food but other people nearby had some and it looked pleasant and plentiful. Toilets were clean but a bit of a hike upstairs. All in all, not a bad Spoons pub.
Lovely pub, gets quite busy. Steak was very fatty, but was changed without fuss. The new menu has changed the standard steak with no extras only chips and now the steak from the old menu which included extras is now the gourmet steak and has gone up in price Nearby activities: Great antiques type market nearby on Tuesdays
Ordered food via the app at 2045. We were then rudely interrupted by the manager telling us that children weren’t allowed in the pub after 9PM because of licensing rules, citing that it’s only a pub and not a restaurant!! Our grandchildren were behaving impeccably and weren’t giving the manager any reason to interrupt our evening. Very unwelcoming pub…obviously coming from the manager. She said he would give us 30 minutes to eat and go!! Thanks very much.
We have been there twice now. Last Saturday and Thursday of this week. My Sister has just moved to Tavistock. We order on the app but my sisters boyfriend prefers to go to the bar to get a round of drinks after our meal. Unfortunately on Thursday there was a Young blonde barmaid who was abrupt to everyone who went to the bar. Four customers talked about how they were treated by her as they left the bar. When it was our turn I could see what they mean. The food itself was great and the rest of the staff were friendly and very helpful. Food & drinks: Look about
Never stayed in the accommodation, but the the food was very nice and arrived quite quickly despite every table being occupied. The building has a very quirky layout and lots of history and original features. There's even outside seating if the sun actually shines. Good central location, I have been several times.Service: 5/5
Poor quality food. I realise this is budget bar food but I had much better food in other Wetherspoons. Mashed potato looked like it has been warmed up under a grill and the peas must have been cooked for so long they were yellow. The steak and kidney pudding was fine but then again you can't really go wrong if it was brought in and heated in a microwave
Popped in for lunch with family it was very busy so we sat out on the terrace upstairs, ordered off the app, our food was brought to us and the cold drinks, along with 2 empty mugs for tea, so we had to get up and go downstairs to fetch our own drinks, not happy with that at all also the coffee was brought up as a black but no milk, so had to take that back downstairs to get the milk. The way the drinks are served now is awful, the drinks are never really hot anymore.
Great location, very central. Parking two minutes away. Room spotless, with extra large bed, en-suite with easy to use shower. Tea making in room.Rooms: 4/5
Cheap but not particularly cheerful. OK rooms but a great shower. Breakfast was a disaster - a royal mess. Nothing went right except for perfectly cooked poached eggs. Fabulous having a lit fire for breakfast time.Rooms: 3/5
Very nice for a Wetherspoons pub. Undergoing work repair at the moment so everywhere is not looking as good as it can be or will be I’m sure. Meals cooked very quickly. To be honest we ordered using the app and our food arrived before our drinks. Everything was cooked as should be
