Great location to stop and take in the view, if the weather allows. Seems to be free as there were no ticket machines I could see. There is also and Ice cream van here that also sells coffee. Stopped here a couple of times and there was lots of free space each time. It is a good place to start a walk as there are a few other places nearby to see.
It’s just one of the many car parks in the area. Just enjoy the nature. And even if the weather is not sunny, Dartmoor is worth the visit. Actually, if it’s a bit wet, the atmosphere is very special and typical for this place!
Such a wonderful place to get a good early hike up , several tors. Although spoilt by a do gooder taking pictures of any campervan she can find obviously trying to intimidate wild campers!! whom by the way are just enjoying one of the last free things out country has to offer.
Amazing views from the edge of Dartmoor down towards the Tamar River and Tavistock.
A fairly large car park right on the edge of the Dartmoor. Wonderful views, great for an evening visit if you want to watch the sun set over Tavistock. The ponies do come here a lot and if they are around don't expect to sit peacefully in your car with the windows open as they will stick their heads in looking for food.
Wonderful viewpoint, always visit when in the area. On a clear day you can see all the way down to the bridges over the Tamar; it wasn't a clear day though so the mist made the horizon merge into the murk. Still, the kids enjoyed seeing the sheep and ponies, plus it was a lot cooler than it had been in Plymouth an hour or so earlier...
A big car park with nice views. Plenty of areas nearby to hike/walk! A nice walk we did was the pork hill circular walk around pew tour. There is a Ice Cream truck in the car park which serves as a nice treat after a walk. Make sure you wear appropriate footwear if you do the pork hill circular walk, in particular when we went there was a lot of sheep poo around on the walk pathway.
Ideally placed free car park, usually with an ice cream van in high season. Climb the local tor's and enjoy the local Moor at no cost!
Fantastic place to stop and have an ice cream amazing views and lots of room to wander great if you like walking
I absolutely love it. Plenty of space in the car park for everyone and it is absolutely free and hopefully it will stay free forever. Amazing views and you plenty of paths to choose from for a nice walk. The best thing - an ice cream truck that is there every time I visit.
