First time visiting just for a quick drink. Have to say first impressions very good. Nice selection of beer and larger, looked at menu and the plates coming out, food looks good too. Will visit again.

July 2017 - My wife & I have just enjoyed a piping hot & delicious Seared Sea Bass & Steak & Ale Pie, which arrived very quickly in about 15 minutes. The Plowden has recently been taken over (again) in May. The staff are very accommodating, friendly & helpful. Recently redecorated & the pub is very clean & nicely laid out inside. There is a car park to the rear & large garden with tables & chairs to the side. There are a good selection of local ales too. May 2012 - I believe the pub has been under new management for about a year now? We've visited a few times over the last year & it is settling down to be a nice relaxing place to eat some good food. We found the food to be of a high standard, well cooked & presented & piping hot. Also we didn't have long to wait for either the food or drinks. The pub is very clean & well presented but you may need to think about pre-booking a table, especially if you are in a larger group as tables are limited. This is a very popular place for ramblers to just pop in when passing by & is dog friendly.
