I love it in here, a great place to chill out and watch the world go buy. Or have a quick drink before visiting the theatre. Serves beer, tea, coffee and soft drinks, plus the usual bar snacks like crisps etc. In the summer the garden by the river is perfect to sit with a drink and watch nature at its best. Also, when visiting look up! It has an amazing city scape on the ceiling that is now part and parcel of the structure.
Great little place. Dog friendly bar with craft beers and coffee. The staff are really nice and the decor is interesting, particularly the ceiling. They don't serve food, but, as long as you're buying drinks, they are happy for you to bring your own. Dog treats are also available
Love the ceiling, brilliant. Also the beer hand pumps - tonight, mine had a fluttering bat to accompany my pint of mild. If you cannot fathom what I mean, go to The Playhouse Bar and order a pint of Firkin - before it's sold out.
Friendly young staff.. Knowledgeable about the drinks they serve.. Young student clientele.. Buzzy atmosphere.. Cool place.. Nice outdoor area
The playhouse has such a friendly atmosphere! One of my fav places to go in Norwich - whether it's for a coffee & snack during the day, or evening drinks. Lovely decorations indoors, and cute lights & picnic benches outside. They also let you order food to here which makes it easy to recommend to anyone with dietary restrictions.
Amazing bar, really relaxed and great to hang out in !! Feels really queer friendly and safe, it’s definitely a go-to for my friends and I :,
Love this place! A great atmosphere for a pre meal drink. A good range of beers and wines.
Great bar to enjoy a drink before or after a show. Even has a Nintendo SNES with games to play a nice touch.
It's always been a good destination for hipsters and freaky-beatniks. I used to frequent it a lot when I was an age student many years ago. A great place to go when the sun's out and a pretty decent beer selection. Kids like it too.
I often go here to stare at my shoes in the yard, out back. Here, I can voyeuristically 'tune in' to the latest blabber that makes for conversation from today's yoof, then 'drop out' again if I so desire, to return to the view of my shoes, nudging my empty mug of 'once was coffee' ever nearer the table edge, to fall and shatter, or remain intact. Jug coffee, tea, a squid 40, or just a plain ol' pound, dependant on your choice of beverage. Booze, more, in cost, of course. It does have alcohol in it after all, but available. Makes the cacophony more rabid and really brings those shoes to new life. Go ye there, then, thee zum playhouseth bar. Goeth, there. Take your own shoes.
