An absolute relic of a shop that needs doing away with. Dead cats in the freeze, 10s of birds to one tiny cage and other animals stuffed together. Horrible horrible place and I’m surprised it exists in hipster central. The only place this kind of shop can remotely seem humane is in china.
I’ve been twice to the pet shop. 1st time with my new puppy 14weeks in my sling as not vaccinated and today with my dog and my partner. Staff is a bit of a weird one. A bit rude, knows better than you, I felt very overwhelmed by the way the lady took my puppy and left her off the floor. I didn’t like it and never asked for permission. The way she’s was handling her wasn’t rough. The lady and her colleague were also giving advice that I shouldn’t do this or that with my dog. Not listening to what I was saying- although I never asked for their advices. Second time, called to know if they’ve have dogs food in stock. The guy on the phone was talking in a very rude way. Even my boyfriend was surprised of this agressive tone! Came in the shop, said hello 1 time, no answer, 2 times still no reply, so said it a third time and eventually they said it back. From the reviews I’m seeing I’m shocked and it should be reported to animal wellfare. This is pretty bad, and my first gut feeling was the right one, I’d NEVER go back. I think they should do an inspection in this shop and people should report it.
I would personally like to say that this pet shop is amazing! I went there to ask how it’d be like having pet guinea pigs but came out wanting to get a rabbit. I came once more and then the next time I got the rabbit himself. I’ve had him for a week now and he is very happy. Moreover, the staff are very kind and helpful! All of the pets are kept in suitable habitats considering they aren’t kept there forever. They have fish, birds, rodents, hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits, reptiles including snakes. I would highly recommend going there to rehome a pet.
Can no longer support this store. Concerning care of rabbits in tiny window boxes, very overpriced products, and rude & intimidating staff to top it off. Trying to buy locally and stop buying online but they don’t make it easy in this shop. Will be going to House Of Pets on Well St 10 min walk away from now on. Went there today and had great service.
I’ve always gone out of my way to come here because they have a great selection of good quality dog treats and foods. I have always shopped independent pet shops as the animals are always of much better quality and never have any issues. I made the mistake of getting gerbils from Pets At Home a few years ago and they ended up getting cancer and dying quite painfully. I bought three new gerbils from here last week and they are all really happy and healthy. The animals in the shop all look well taken care of and happy too. The staff were incredibly helpful and kind, going above and beyond to fix any issues I had. They are one of the few independent pet shops in London that still sells pets and I would say are the best in terms of products and animal health.
I took teddy for a grooming and when I got home I noticed that he had fur still sticking up from his ear. So practically every thing was alright. Thanks
This is my second review as it has been removed from Google for some reason. Normally I don’t do open reviews how ever I really felt the need to express how I feel about this place… I have bought 2 budgies from here 3 weeks ago And 1 week later the male Budgie was Ill numerous trips to the vets and my Budgie has died yesterday… The place smells awful 7-11 budgies in one cage disrespectful and unhelpful staff according to other reviews regarding this place they have been selling sick animals as someone has to take action on this pet shop. When I took my budgie to the hospitals pets they have informed that it could off been sick when you bought it. Please someone help STOP KILLING THE ANIMALS !
Very well kept shop and animals look happier and healthier than most pet shops. Not the largest selection for reptiles and amphibians but good enough and still better than Petsathome. Lovey till staff as well! Will definitely be coming back :
I visited this pet/fish shop for the first time today in a long time. I have recently set up my tropical fish tank again after 18 months. The shop assistant's were so very helpful even helping me to decide what new fish I could get that was going to be compatible with the fish I already have. The two young smart knowledgeable ladies today were extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the different fish they had and spent time with me discussing what I required and I have to say are a great credit to your shop. I would strongly recommend going here for all you pet needs. Oh yes let's not forget the well papered cat who was lazing away the afternoon and enjoys petting very much. Will be travelling here for all my fish needs regularly, the other thing about this small animal/tropical fish shop is how well stocked and put out of the products they have. They have a whole new range of products, including tropical plants and foods and water filters etc
Came here to do work experience for college. Staff are very rude. Was removing several DEAD fish from tanks DAILY. There was several dead animals in the stock room freezer below the pet food, and no im not meaning the rats and mice for snakes im talking about budgies, hamster even a rabbit wrapped in a towel that was stuck to the bottom of the freezer. Daily health checks was not done, when i was cleaning out animals i found the guinea pigs and muce bith with scabby bald spits. There was a dead budgie in a loo roll just sitting un tge stock room for weeks. Found a baby corn snake in the kitten pen. The overall care of the animals is extremely poor and when u talk to them avout ut thet get angry. While u was there a customer baught a hamster that was 6 months old and it died 3 days later when the person vame back asking for a refund the manager said no sorry tts not our problem. DONT GO HERE
