We had a lovely evening at The Pavilion. We came here to celebrate a birthday and the food was beautiful. Our Duck starter was cooked to perfection, not one bit of fat in the duck. Mains were good but couldn't beat the starter for us. Staff were really professional and went out of their way to serve us to the fullest. Parking: Next to front door Wheelchair accessibility: Was at the back
Always enjoy visiting here. Have been visiting for almost 2 decades. Service is always warm, friendly, but professional. If you got there a lot the host Michelle, and her team, definitely gets to know you and your family and friends and shows this through her immaculate service and knowledge. Not many places offer such a personal touch. You're never left waiting or trying to catch anyone for a drink etc. Staff are very vigilant in checking in with you, but without being over bearing. The food is always delicious and plentiful and nicely paced. Not too fast but not waiting ages, either. There is also no rushing you out the door, at the end of your meal. The decor, has remained unchanged for many years, but is still clean, smart and warming. We just visited on the greyest, wettest Januray day and it was still felt cosy inside. Good range of drinks. It's a lovely place, that we've frequently enjoyed and one of the few that's not changed for the worse, over the years, but remains consistently good. Parking: Plenty of parking right at the door.
Great food with lovely atmosphere and service.Food: 5/5
Unfortunately I probably made a bad choice. Had lemon chicken. The sauce needed twice as much lemon in, rather Bland. The chicken breast was stringy and tough which was unusual. I managed half of it. Service was good. Staff are very cheerful and good at their job. Everywhere very clean. Vegetarian options: Had 1 vegetarian in our party and she said options were fine. Could I mention also a lactose intolerant in our party who found it fine. Parking: Pretty big car park. Fine for disabled too. Wheelchair accessibility: Apparently wheelchair entrance is round the back of building.
I've been coming here occasionally for ~18 years now for special occasions. It's a bit pricier than most other places in the north east *but* it has that wow factor. The food and service has *never* disappointed. The portion sizes are also fantastic too so you aren't short changed when it comes to the quantity of food for the price. Our most recent visit was in March for a Mother's Day treat for me. We'd not been for just over 12 months and it was our first ever visit at the lunch time serving. Initially we were a bit disappointed/apprehensive that the menu was much more restrictive something we should have realised/checked about first so our wrong doing. But, in saying this, it pushed us all out of our "comfort zones" and actually, in doing so, was a blessing in disguise because we absolutely loved our choices and now have discovered new dishes we now live that we probably wouldn't have otherwise ordered! Service is always exemplary and the food is always divine. 5/5
I enjoyed my meal, and would recommend the lettuce parcels. Unfortunately 2 members of our party were missing their meals as the kitchen missed their order. The decor was a little dated. Overall, I would return, but hope we can all eat together next time!Recommended dishesLettuce Parcel with Plum Sauce
Love this place. Always great food and good price when we go for set meal on a lunch time. Great for a special occasion or an excuse to go out for great food.Food: 5/5
This is Chinese style food taken to a whole new level by the Pavilions Cantonese chefs. Everything is cooked and served beautifully in this restaurant on a hill. I have been many times and never been disappointed. Highly recommended. Parking: Plenty of parking spaces front and side but it gets busy at times.
Enjoyed a superb meal here - one of the best Cantonese meals I've ever eaten. The menu has a great selection of dishes. Really attentive and helpful staff too. Definitely reccomended.Food: 5/5
Great food as always, but a drop in the experience compared to previously. No welcome area when arrived where you can sit and look at the menu this is now more meal tables, noone takes your coat you put it on your chair now, no nice menus used to choose from leatherbound menus, now it is just a couple of A4 printed sheets with a pen with no explanation of what to do between five of us! Had to ask for the vegetarian menu as this wasnt even printed out. Ended up ticking next to what we wanted and that was the ordering done! It is always better to have someone take your order down for you. Some starters were excessively priced - £9:20 for seaweed put us off that option. Service at times was slow, but food great as always. No free drink at the end of the meal either. It used to be a special place to go for a great night out, but now it's just like any other restaurant. Bit of a shame really. People are prepared to pay more for the extra special treatment, and time will tell if their decision to reduce the experience will reduce the footfall...
