What a lovely find! Took a chance on this place and was not disappointed by what I saw. It was almost like being on a mini holiday whilst I already was. There is a huge selection of plants and small sculptures throughout which compliment the plants amazingly. It is almost like stepping back in time to an era long past. Don't be fooled by the door that wont open at first try, it just needs a little push, hope this gets repaired so people can get in and out easy. Took about 20 minutes to explore the place but if you are a lover of plants I could imagine staying there for over an hour looking through them all. If you manage to get this place with some sunlight through the clouds then it really adds to the already stunning location.
The palm house In botanical gardens was designed by Charles Lanyon and one of the earliest examples of a curvilinear cast iron glasshouse. Its construction was started by the Belfast Botanical and Horticultural Society in the 1830s and completed in 1840. The cool wing houses all year round displays of colour and scent using plants such as geranium, fuchsia, and begonia. In addition there are many other plants including ferns and cacti. A very interesting place to visit but the building is showing its age and could do with a lick of paint and windows a good clean.
Wonderful example of an architecturally stunning glasshouse. Looking up into the domes at the cacti transports you to different continents. Just brilliant and unbelievably, it’s free!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
A relatively small tropical house, but a lovely collection of plants. Very well tended and kept. The building itself is beautiful, with a main done and two wings. One of the wings is a really hot area! The house as a whole is the hotter of the two in the park. Worth a visit.
Idyllic location for photos, exploring or just to sit and take in the Belfast way of life. Fabulous history of architecture from Charles Lanyon
Great to see the palm house open again even if you can't get all the way round the inside.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo

The Palm House is impressive from the outside xx it didn't impress me so much inside. Needs some TLC xxVisited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Would be nice if there were some reading materials, otherwise it’s a great spot. Gets a bit warm in the summer as it is a greenhouse..
Lovely building with a fantastic collection of plants. Outside there were some beautifully laid out flowerbeds which would put some local councils to shame!
