The food was excellent, we had the Duck Breast, Steak and Kids Chicken Goujons. They were so kind when we asked to push our reservation back. A Hidden Gem!! And they are dog friendly! 5 stars definitely . Kid-friendliness: Lovely children's menu.
I have been here on around three occasions with fellow travellers from Marlow Rugby Club en-route to watch our 1st XV play in this part of Buckinghamshire. We are always treated to a wonderful reception and some great food. I had the trout as a main course on our last excursion - cooked perfectly. We also finished our meal with an excellent bottle of vintage port and cheese. Highly recommended for consistently good food and great service. Until next season...
The Old Thatched Inn is a throwback in time to the quintessential English pub at the heart of a small village. It has the features, charm and character accompanied by the correct amount of modern touches to keep you from wanting. It's a most welcome bonus when the greeting host ask, if you have a reservation then upon confirmation, calls you by name and takes you to your seat. About the food... Diners have a choice between the set and standard menus. The set offers a choice of 2 or 3 courses, with 3 being £25 which is excellent value. It was largely seafood for mains which was the only slight disappointment. The main menu was a lovely mix that caters for all. Starters; we had the pork & black pudding croquetes and the wild mushrooms. Both were lovely and I'm not even a mushroom fan. Mains; whole tail scampi and 10oz Ribeye. Again, both delicious, well seasoned, beautifully cooked dishes. As I had the set menu, I was greedy enough to squeeze in the brownie, which was accompanied by chocolate snow, decorative sauce and a scoop of ice-cream. It need a touch of fruit or some sauce or tarte fruit to break up the sweetness but it was still lovely. Overall, at £82 a bit of an expensive lunch without a bottle some might say yet the food was very good and there were five dishes + drinks between us. We'll done The Old Thatched Inn 4.5. We'll be back to sample dinner
We went for Sunday lunch here and it was amazing. We took our 2 small dogs and dined outside as it was a lovely sunny day. The food was awesome, three of us are vegan and we chose the no meat burgers which were delicious. The staff are super helpful and friendly. They even brought out a bowl of water for the dogs without even asking. I would definitely recommend this pub. Lots of tables outside and loads of parking.
We came here for my mum's birthday and we're very glad we did. The service was very friendly and the food came swiftly. In the starters we particularly enjoyed the scotch egg,. The mains in the photos are the salmon linguine, haddock and chips and the sea bream all of which we can highly recommend. All the food was very fresh.6/5 superb
Booked here for Sunday lunch having been before for lunch, but that was way before lockdown pt 1! Service remains friendly and welcoming, when we left it looked like it was pretty full so booking recommended! Starters were all tasty and well prepared, whitebait and chicken liver parfait were both enjoyed. The Sunday roast mains were a choice of beef topside, pork or chicken. A good variety of veg, crispy roast potatoes and a pretty decent looking Yorkshire pudding! All very well cooked and equally as tasty. Overall, pretty difficult to find fault with our experience or meal, dessert was also enjoyed before we left! Good attentive service, well cooked tasty food and a reasonable price point £16 for a roast main means we'd definitely go back! One of the best roasts we've enjoyed out in a while.
A very charming pub. We were made very welcome. Our Sunday lunch was perfect.Food: 5/5
I recently went to the thatch for the first time and it was amazing! The staff were so attentive - everything was done with a smile. The food was delicious I had the roast sirloin and the gravy was top tier!! It is run by a lovely, friendly family and it had such a cosy vibe, make sure you visit this winter! Highly highly recommend
The food was great, although a little on the expensive side. It’s obviously a popular place as all the tables were full. The staff were pleasant and attentive. My only real gripe was that we were situated in a tight corner near the kitchen door. Every time food or drinks needed serving the staff couldn’t quite get to the the people sat right in the corner, so a lot of things were passed across me or over my head!
Excellent restaurant. I liked everythng very much. Since ancient times, I can know his place and say that, as before, everything is wonderfully simple: the interior, the kitchen, the atmosphere, and the waiters. A unique distressed assortment of dry red wines.
