What a superb visit! This was our second stay and both times we had been treated to fabulously appointed rooms and even better views.nThe welcome from all staff was very friendly and we felt well looked after. Great breakfasts to start our day and a lovely evening atmosphere in the bar with a great selection of beers and gins distilled on the premises.nWe love this place and will definitely return. Thank you.
This was our first time staying here and was pleasantly surprised by the location, the room but mostly the food. The servings are generous and delicious food. We had the battered cod and chips, which undoubtedly was the best I have had to date in the UK.
Old style pub. Probably needs a bit of an update, but the food was nice with a few beers to wash it down . Great view looking over to Fowey if you can get near the window . We walked from Penmarlam Lodge Retreat, but the steep hill on the way back up is brutal on the calfs . Don't think there's any car parking .
Had a lovely weekend end here. Amazing location, with beautiful views I've the river. Really friendly staff at breakfast and in the bar. Great atmosphere in a great inn with great ale . Must try the gin & brandy distilled on the premises! The hotel is as expected for a 400+ year old, quirky corridors but room was great, bed very comfortable and great bathroom.nWould give 5 for service but although we booked table in evening we had to wait as had local walk-ins. Great as locals love it but didn't actually reserve table for residents. However, it did give us time to try the local spirits.nWell worth a visit - Thankyou to all staff who made us so welcome.
Very rude staff!nnWe made a booking via their online booking. We paid £30 deposit for roast dinner which they said they offered into the evening. We turned up, it was completely dead and despite being told we’d get table service, no one helped us.nnThey then refused to give us a refund, so will be taking this up with the restaurant and booking company they use.
