Was genuinely surprised. The food was far better than I thought it would be, and the atmosphere of the place was nothing short than amazing. I had the lentil soup and the sirloin steak salad. Both were a real treat.
There are a few pubs in Saffron Walden but not many really good ones. The OEG is definitely one of the better ones. It's a nice, old fashioned place with good beer, food and a small beer garden.
