The Old Beams Stourport

Story

The youngest addition to the Scoff and Quaff family, The Old Beams is an inviting gastropub in the idyllic town of Stourport. Located across the bridge of the River Severn, the Old Beams offers great food and drink served with a smile, we are sure that our broad menu can offer something to keep everyone at the table happy. We love big parties here at the Beams, a wonderful location for weddings, birthdays, christenings, anniversaries and any other functions.

Had difficulties booking a table of 6. OpenTable booking system wouldn’t allow a party of that size so tried calling several times with no answer. In the end we sent an email, which finally received a response. The staff on arrival were friendly and engaging. The menu is relatively small and offered no specials however the food was tasty and well cooked at a decent price (2 courses for £12 / 3 courses for £16) Overall, enjoyable experience.

Taken over by Scoff and Quaff, the Old Beams has had some major work done on it and is now a nice place to eat with friendly staff and good food like most of the other gastro pubs in the chain. Only slight criticism is that as a consequence of the much needed renovation work the Old Beams ambience is currently a bit clinical. A classic old pub is now perhaps a bit too squeaky clean and new, hopefully it will acquire some character over the coming months. The more often I come here, the less I like the look, the grey green paint is dull and gloomy. Quality of staff seems to vary, last time we went they were friendly and polite but screwed up our order completely. . We just dropped in to try the carvery that's on their web menu, no staff at the booking in point, nothing on the carvery. Tried to attract attention, no luck, we left. Same chain as the other local Scoff and Quaff The Crown and Sandys but not as good by a long mark. Since this last visit the pub has changed hands, will give them another go in the next few weeks see if things have improved .

Cannot believe what a fantastic Valentine Day menu was provided last night. Top quality food at a snip of a price and super staff as well. This was our first visit but we will return sooner rather than later.
