We originally booked a table for my husbands 60th birthday whilst on holiday in Devon and ended up returning on 3 more occasions. The food was out of this world. Each visit we picked something different off the menu and they were all equally as delicious. The service was excellent, being friendly, attentive, professional and food and drinks were all served in a timely manner. The pub has a lovely friendly atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit. We have already booked to holiday again in North Devon in 2023 and are looking forward to visiting Muddiford Inn again. A big thank you to all the staff for making it a first class and enjoyable experience.
Awesome Christmas meal, fantastic staff, a lovely ambience. Well worth a visit. There is plenty of parking too.
We had the best experience eating at this inn. Staff are extremely friendly and accommodating despite it being very difficult to secure a table due to the inn’s popularity - definitely book as there will not be room if you just show up, as we found out on our first attempt! The food was fresh, homemade, well cooked and presented and very quick to arrive. We were tended to very well in terms of being checked up on and provided drinks and enjoyed our visit from start to finish. Rounded off our last night in Barnstaple and we will definitely be coming back!
Wonderful food, I'd go there again any day.
Eleven of us had a Sunday roast at the Muddiford Inn and it was exceptional. One of the best roasts we've ever had. Service was great, would definitely recommend visiting for a roast or just a drink. Lovely Inn with a fireplace in the bar. If you want the vegetarian roast, be sure to mention when you book!
Looks like country inn but with a menu that wouldn't look out of place in any top restaurants very impressed
We found The Muddiford Inn very welcoming as we visited for a meal and drinks. The tables were well spaced out and the bar staff wore masks. Lovely meal and friendly service, we would come again if we ever pass through, thank you!
Booked based on previous good reviews but this was not reflective of our meal. Having checked more recent reviews it seems others have had similar experiences with the rude and patronising manager. Having ordered the ribs from the specials board, they arrived and looked as though they'd been reheated with BBQ sauce piled on top. The ribs themselves were poorly cooked and over half was pure gristle. Chips also seemed to be from frozen and onion rings were soggy. I normally avoid complaining, but my partner found the waiter and politely explained the disappointment. The manager then came to the table and was incredibly patronising, explaining that I had probably just not had 'proper' ribs before. In doing so, he also admitted that the ribs had actually been cooked the day before. After being told why we were in fact incorrect, he then asked 'what we wanted him to do about it?'. As people who would never usually complain, at this point the whole situation felt so uncomfortable that we just wanted him to leave the table. We asked younger waiter for the bill, but had to go to the bar to the manager to pay by card. Only after we had paid the full bill, he offered 'sorry you had a bad experience'. There seems to be a common theme in negative reviews of the manager placing blame elsewhere. My partner's curry was nice, but the above interaction had ruined the meal and evening by that point.
Edited to 1 star after person called and attempted to deny she was aware of an issue, and called me rude when I said "how could you not be aware of it, it was not a small dog". Nothing said is untrue, check your CCTV. When im paying that much I don't want people having a pint at the bar, coming to bar for drinks etc nor do I wish to eat with someone else's noisy dog. And I don't appreciate a call about a review before 10am on a Sunday morning. It's not sure what it is. The food is good, it's expensive but good. Talking 75 for two people, no alcohol. If it wants to be a country pub great, be that and do the people standing at bar having a pint, do the "we allow dogs". When it's this level of expense you're not a country pub. Asked for my bill halfway through food. They could see we were unhappy. Did they ask why we were leaving, no. I'll tell you why.. letting 3 people with dogs in at the same time. The room in about 12ft by 12ft, so having dogs barking in my ear hole was not a great experience at the cost.
Had a really good dinner here, first time I've visited. There is catch of the day on a Wednesday and it was excellent. Lovely bit of hake with a crab risotto bravo, and thank you
