Went for Saturday evening food, didn't book, managed to get a table, sat outside as a nice warm evening. Had the south Africa taster menu, was good to try something new. Asked for a blanket when the sun went down, as they have a sign saying to ask - good idea. Pretty busy. It's local to me, not been before, would go again... I can Recommend this pub.
We had lovely weather so sat outside. We had zebra & crocodile steak. Both with lovely sauce and some veggies. Wish there was bit of more chips though. But the flavours were nice of both dishes. And then delish brownie and cheescake. Would defo recommend.
Food was great, small but good wine selection however the service is were the review lost a star. Might need more training as could not answer the questions about the food and we needed to ask to the member of staff to go to the kitchen and ask. Portions were nice and big would definitely go back a must try is the Trinchada!
Friendly welcome on arrival, we were seated quickly to our booked table. Staff were very polite and accommodating. The veggie burger was delicious!
Took my elderly Mum here for lunch today, just got back and couldn't wait to leave a five star review. Trust me, we are picky but this was faultless. Warm efficient service and the food was delicious! We found the portions are generous and everything was so tasty. We'll be back next time we are down in Somerset for Sunday lunch and maybe a dinner visit also... can't wait!
We stopped here on a Britstop Friday evening we arrived at about 8:45pm on our way to Cornwall from oxford and although the kitchen closed at 9pm they still managed to give us a lovely meal to fill us up and we had a couple of drinks in the bar afterwards with some of the locals in a really nice atmosphere. We will definitely be back…. Probably on the way home.
Lovely pub, great food, perfect setting, fantastic beer garden for those nice summer days and you always feel welcome. Plus there's a bar cat too!!
It was a beautiful garden and pub however all we got told by every single member of staff that they were so busy and they all just looked miserable. I completely understand that it was nice weather and having people in the pub and outside is a lot but honestly the amount of guilt everyone made us feel by just ordering a drink was too much. The chef was absolutely lovely and having him out delivering food is actually a lovely touch and he was a really nice guy. The food was good too. Couldn’t fault it. Will definitely come back but hate feeling negative when it didn’t need to be. Everyone was actually doing a good job it just came across really Whiney .
To be completely honest, this was the least appealing Sunday roast I’ve had at a restaurant since I moved to England. Very bland and generally unappealing. I have friends visiting and had once chance to show them a delicious traditional Sunday roast; this restaurant was the wrong choice. Unfortunately pretty disappointed
Had a couple of great beers and a lovely light lunch. We asked for an extra plate so we could share the main course of fish and chips but they went the extra mile and cut the fish in half before battering and frying, then served 2 meals separately. Was plenty for us
