Love this place: superb location and excellent cask ales and grub. One gripe, it has new owners and decor - but alas fewer cask ales and veggie options than when I visited last. Still, stunning!
Almost forgot why I love this place. Didn't have a booking and they managed to fit us into the restaurant, even though it was very busy everywhere in the pub - rugby was on! Food was on point as always and the drinks were made with care. Nice to see a change in the menu with the classics still available , but they have removed the early dinner deal which is a shame
Beautifully decorated and clean, this pub manages to combine a modern and homely traditional feel. The food is very good, and the service quick and polite. I'd certainly recommend this place.
Delicious menu, lovely wine. Glad we popped in for some dinner. Good choice of gluten free and vegan options too! We had the large fish and chips, seafood pie, chicken gnocchi and a pizza. Lovely sorbet for desert. Always a fave
Great pub. Friendly staff. A nice range of beers and food. Lots of seating options.
As a family of four, we like to visit fairly often. Don't review much but as locals felt we should, and also our meal receipt says they are welcoming reviews. The menu and staff have changed, again. Fewer vegetarian options, even more limited children's options - it is a condensed version of the adult menu. We were drawn in by the Sunday roast board and "free top ups of roasties and yorkies", however, when asked about the free top ups the staff did not know anything about it, nor the board it was written on outside of the building, and we were told we would pay for extras. Staff nice enough, but £40 later for two mains and 3 sides and a bottle of fizzy water and no top ups! The Met may be hinting at a different demographic with its scaling back.
It is just "fine" these days. The cost of food and drink is eye watering to the point where similar venues in central regions of London aren't as expensive. A large coke not a pint is almost £4. A pint of beer is over £5 and whilst the chicken salad was very good, at almost £20 there really isn't value in what is essentially slightly fancy pub-grub. Whilst well staffed, tables are often slow to be cleared, Staff are very friendly
Been coming here for years and have raved about it to others as food, drink and service used to be excellent. Unfortunately recently something has changed, the drinks are still the same and the service is good. However, the food seems to have really gone downhill. The last two times we have been there the food has been nowhere near the standard that it used to be. The Met Burger and Met Roast were fantastic but not so much anymore. Hopefully just a blip and things will return to normal...
We used to go to the Met every week but sadly has gone seriously downhill over the past few months. There seems to have been a massive change over of staff and whilst they are great, it's just not up to the same standard anymore and can't justify the prices in comparison to other local restaurants. Still a great pub but have stopped eating there and not likely to return.
Used to love going to The Metropolitan. Used to be great for family meals service was great. But now since new management the service is awful staff couldn’t care less, no manners. Food wasn’t worth the money small portion and was cold. We got the food and were waiting for cutlery so it got colder. They said they are changing the menu soon so may get better. Overall a bad experience and wouldn’t go again.
