Lovely simple decor with super friendly service and a real surprise for the quality of food. The only time I have belly of pork with more crackling than I could handle!! The calamari starter was lush and enough for two to share.
Absolutely delicious dinner for three of us, and very attentive service too. Nice atmosphere. Pork Belly was off the scale in terms of quality - everything on my plate was delicious.
Impromptu treat to us.. thankfully they accommodated us even though they were fully booked and busy with Sunday roast. Loved the desserts and the coffee. Thank you. Highly recommended
Went for a meal here yesterday. The place was empty inside but we were dining at 6pm so it was definitely early. The food was really lovely and the lady manager sorry I didn't get your name was lovely and very accommodating of my vegan diet. She also choose a lovely strawberry gin for me, which was gorgeous. It's was n nice to find that it's also a dog friendly pub. First visit but won't be the last Vegetarian options: There were some vegetarian and vegan options that all sounded lovely. I had the vegan burger with all the trimmings and it was delicious. Even the accompanying side salad was a cut above with a really tasty, light dressing. Kid-friendliness: No kids were there but with outside tables and plenty of space there would certainly be room for them to enjoy. Parking: Large car park with disabled spaces too. Wheelchair accessibility: The entry was wide and flat so I'm pretty sure it would allow for wheelchair users. There was a disabled toilet too but I didn't go in. Dietary restrictions: Vegan, vegetarian, gluten free options were clear and I'm sure they would go out of their way to ensure all needs were safely catered for if they possibly could.
We had a lovely meal. Staff were friendly and checked on us numerous times to see if we needed anything. The carvery was delicious, we had a choice of 4 meats and plenty of choice of vegetables and sauces. Everything was clean and the pub itself is nicely decorated, we enjoy all of our visits here. Our table had a range of drinks, all of which were served promptly. A few of us had deserts and they looked beautiful.
TL,DR: Excellent food let down by poor service and extremely rude owner. We went for a late 6pm carvery sitting and I will say the food is excellent with a fantastic selection of veg, massive Yorkshire puddings and great meat and roast potatoes on offer, can't fault the food. The burger also was very good with a good helping of chips and side salad. However; we asked for some mayo and ketchup for the burger and again after 10 minutes I went to ask one of the staff if they could get some for us. I should point out the boiler has broken at the pub so it was very cold there to the point where we offered blankets so the burger was getting cold very quickly. Another few minutes went by and still no mayo or ketchup so we asked a 3rd member of staff who said 'they were too busy'! We then asked for the burger to be returned to the kitchen to be kept warm whilst we waited for the mayo/ketchup. About 3 minutes later the mayo and ketchup arrive without a burger! A few minutes after that a new burger did arrive so that was good service, albeit to a problem that shouldn't have existed. I should mention that the girl who originally forgot the mayo/ketchup apologised and said 'the burger had been removed from our bill and that she would pay for it', generous but again slightly unnecessary. After our meal we got the bill and indeed there was no charge for the burger but service charge was on the bill and we felt bad for the girl paying for the burger so went to the bar to get it added back on our bill only to have the owner refuse to add it on stating 'we shouldn't be chasing staff around the restaurant'. We were shocked at such a response and we will not be returning. Great food, very poor service.
We went for a Sunday roast and I thought it was fantastic. Roast potatoes were spot on. A really impressive nut roast. Large selection of veg. I would recommend and I would go back. Sadly I was too full to try a pudding but the pudding options also looked fab
Stopped here as a last minute decision on a road trip up north. The owners were very welcoming and friendly, I think our 2.5 year old daughter would have traded us in for them if given the option. Great atmosphere and decor, the food was very good quality. I had the halloumi dish & hubby had the pork belly, both were delicious and very well priced.
Xmas meal with the parents and inlaws yesterday we ordered from the set xmas menu. Absolutely superb meal, everything was cooked to perfection. We all absolutely loved it. Great hosting, friendly and reliable. Had a great laugh with the chef and bar staff. 10/10 highly recommend for the best Sunday roast around too, the yorkshires are to die for! You will not regret going here!
Really cozy pub with a good selection of beers to choose from, food was great but a bit slow out the door. Unfortunately the day we visited The Merry Miller was understaffed but we were still greeted with a friendly smile and gathered best possible service. Will be back when in the area.
