We came here originally on Thursday. But they were closed. Serves me right for not paying attention to the opening hours on Google Maps. Luckily, Nottingham is pretty small that coming back the next day was no issue. The food here is on par with and even better, in some cases, than dim sum restaurants in Canada Downtown Toronto, Scarborough. We ordered 8 dishes for a family of three and was satisfied with the portion sizes. Would definitely recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for quality dim sum.
It was a very popular place and might require reservation in advance if the customer did not want to wait. A bit disappointed that the food was only on average, dish and dim sum size were small. Staff was quite friendly and refilling of tea pot was fast.
I like the Mandarin I have been going to this restaurant for many years not often as it is a trek, however the staff always remember us and and do everything to make our visit perfect. I do think that they have had a new chef as the taste of the food as changed, this is not a bad thing its just different but still very good. I do think prices have gone up and portion size gone fown but thats just the times we live in. All in all I love this place and the food is always good.
Lovely chicken and sweet corn soup. Followed by fab dim sum and jasmine tea. Maître d’ was super attentive. Lovely lunch.
Absolutely the authentic taste of old Hong Kong and we all miss it so much!! The dim sum are scrumptious and we particularly like their barbecued pork crisp, egg tart and shrimp dumpling. Most impressive dishes are roasted duck, fried stuffed three treasure , sweet and sour pork and stir fried rice noodles with beef.
HORRIBLE!!!!!! Deserve a minus infinite -∞ The ginger and onion moonfish dish was the worst thing I have ever eaten, I almost vomited. Fish doesn't look like fish NOT FRESH ! Rubber texture, impossible to eat The soup was horrible I have never tasted something that awful tbf
Excellent traditional Hong Kong cuisine, serves best-in-town dim sum and freshly made pastries. Excellent main dishes during the night. Food quality is unchallenged among similar restaurants in Nottingham. Competitive even compared with restaurants back in HK. Price is slightly higher but absolutely worth it, evens out easily when eating with friends. Some items need to be reserved as they are served with limited amount every day: braised duck, special pastries etc. Predominately Hong Kong customers, perfect atmosphere for those who are homesick!
As a Chinese it’s a place where I can always fall back on, authentic taste, good variety and friendly staff. Been a regular there for 10+ years. Recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Chinese food.
Had a splendid experience. Nice meals, great service, wonderful environment for Private dinner and meetings.Food: 5/5
We have always been impressed by the Mandarin, always delicious food, always friendly and accommodating even when extremely busy. They are excellent. Expensive, but when you see how they operate and the quality of food served it is extremely good value for money. Could not recommend enough. We were introduced to this place by my mother and father in law. And most of the time we either meet here for lunch with them or come on a date for ourselves.
