Nice experience having afternoon tea at the Lord Major's Lounge in the Shelbourne Hotel. Your booking is for an hour an 45 minutes. This does not feels like an adequate amount of time, but could be nice with a little longer. The staff is really nice, friendly, and very helpful. They are very good at asking if you want refills of your tea/coffee or if you want to try a new one. The scone selection is really great, but I must admit that I had higher expectation to the cakes and sandwiches. Do not get me wrong - it was all really great, but compared to what I have tried in other cities' top afternoon tea places, this is not near their level. Still expect this to be best in Dublin. After the tea we went next door in the other side of the hotel and got a gin and tonic. Great location.
My partner and I went for afternoon tea on bank holiday Monday. We booked it weeks in advance, and it was very busy on the day. We opted for the Classic Afternoon Tea €65pp non champagne option. Our server was great at explaining everything to us. There was a menu full of teas and coffees to try, and a 4 tier afternoon tea stand full of goodies. It had plain and fruit scones, lemon drizzle fingers, a selection of sandwiches and marble cake, and mango éclairs to top it off literally....it was the top tier . They replenished the sandwiches, and the tea kept flowing throughout the 2 hours we were there. The room was beautiful, the atmosphere was so calm and tranquil and overall it was a wonderful experience. We also got a doggy bag to take home our leftovers! FABULOUS!
A seductive presentation accompanied by a quality service by friendly staff and relaxing music in this prestigious building can change your day. The pastries and little sandwiches were very tasty and a perfect combination of flavours and colors, also have the very good options of different type of tea.
Absolutely fantastic afternoon tea and a box to take all the desserts you did not manage to eat home with you! there was a selection of 25 teas and a delicious set of sandwiches, scones and desserts! The sandwiches had unlimited refills— we managed to eat 3 plates of sandwiches, but took our desserts home with us. Service was impeccable, the staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, making this a well-rounded experience definitely worth the 55€!! Can absolutely recommend — my second-favorite afternoon tea right after the one I enjoyed at the Ritz in London!
A fun tea I've been back to twice. Attentive service and a beautiful display of pastries and sandwiches with a decent selection of teas. The snacks are truly very pretty. I would skip the champagne at the beginning- wasn't great quality and made the experience a little too expensive per person.
Lovey afternoon tea experience. This is a wonderful time & tasty treat. From the scones and spice bread through to the whiskey smoked salmon sandwiches & feta with tomato on pumpkin bread to the lovely deserts were all spectacular & scrumptious. This is seriously legit!
Had a fantastic experience of Afternoon Tea in the Lord Mayors Lounge. Superb service from the staff, excellent choices and fantastic selection of teas and other drinks. Would highly recommend for s special occasion. Lovely setting and atmosphere.
I'm an American tourist, I love tea, and I am a vegan. I saw from other reviews that there is a vegan tea option if you make a reservation ahead of time. I made a reservation with about 48 hours notice and they had the vegan option ready. Everything about this event was exceptional. To start, the reservation process was very easy. They also called me to confirm all of my information and make sure they had all of my dietary restrictions correct. When I got there they had a table ready for me and my friend who were celebrating some career milestones. The aesthetic of this place is exactly what I am looking for when it comes to a tea event. It's a little dressed up and the whole room is gorgeous. The waitress was so friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. She talked to us about the expectations and explained our meals and tea in detail. We also had conversations with her and enjoyed getting to know more about her. I have been to different high tea events in the US and in England, but none of them have been this good. The teas are poured into your cup so you can try as many flavors as you would like. They will not just leave a huge pot of one flavor for you to finish and not have room to try something else. The Vegan food was delicious and came with scones, tea cake, finger sized toasts with different spreads on them, and two desserts courses. They also would bring you more toasts if you wanted more. My friend Julia and I were so impressed with our entire experience. I have already told family and friends that when they come to Dublin they have to make this a stop.
The Lord Mayor's Lounge was a traveling please the wife event and my first High Tea. I had no idea what a wonderful experience it would be. There are many teas to try and the cost included any and all and as much as one can handle. The sweets and delicate sandwiches are served on the finest china by wonderful staff fit to serve royalty. Pinkie's Out When Sipping Please.
4 stars instead of 5 because I’m not sure it’s actually worth the price, but if you’re willing to splurge on vacation, what a luxurious treat. The sandwiches were all amazing, as were the baked goods and pastries. Service was exemplary and had no issue trying different teas or switching to coffees. Was shocked that a flute of rosè champagne was another $22 € on top of existing cost. L
