Originally established in 1966 and we've been crafting British satchels ever since. We're officially the oldest existing satchel-maker in Britain.

Story

The Leather Satchel Co. are one the last remaining teams of leathersmiths who craft satchels, bags and cases by hand from genuine cowhide leather here in England.

We are the UK's oldest satchel maker, some would say "The Original" and we still remain to keep production here in England.

We are a family owned and run business that have been crafting all manner of things out of leather hides since the 1960s. Some of our most popular designs haven't changed very much at all since that time.

The Leather Satchel Co. are noted for our high quality hand-craftsmanship and charming simple and vintage designs. Clients can order custom designs direct from our workshops and we then export directly to over 160 countries.

What a lovely company to deal with so very helpful they  made and  delivered my satchel within 5 days so I had it in time for my birthday. The process from designing the bag to receiving it was a joy and the quality of the bag is excellent. I would recommend them to anyone and will certainly order more bags in the future.

My first satchel arrived yesterday December 2023 and I instantly fall in love with it. The quality of the product is exceptional, lots of customisations are available. Customer service is beyond expectations. They have made my satchel exactly how I wanted it and answered all my questions. I highly recommend this company. It's very useful to order leather colour samples before making a purchase as some colours look very different on the phone screen than in real.  Bespoke 11 inch satchel with additional handle, magnetic closure and rear slip pocket. Colours, Distressed Egyptian Ebony and Distressed Damson.  Edit:Last two pictures made after 4 months of use. Bag is regularly treated using dubbin, hence the darker Damson colour.

I have ordered a custom satchel for my daughter’s birthday, and had an amazing experience. First, the communication was very quick and smooth, I have even received a draft picture of the custom model before confirming the order. The production took less time than I expected, and the delivery was quickshipped to Switzerland , the bag was well protected. Finally, the satchel itself is even more beautiful than I expected based on the photos - nice leather, finely crafted, with great attention to minor details. This company exceeded my expectations in every way! I've been looking for the perfect small satchel and once ordered hard to choose the colour with so much choice! The notebook cover is absolutely first class too and I was even lucky enough to be gifted a little folio wallet which looks like it would have a million uses. I recently started a search for a new leather music case. My search led me to The Leather Satchel Co. website. I was really impressed with the layout of the site, the large number of different satchels and other leather items available and the amazing choice of colours an options. I was especially impressed with the commitment to craftsmanship displayed on this site.  I selected my case in post office red, with almost all of the available options, placed my order and waited. My new case arrived yesterday, just one week after I had placed my order, and came all the way from Liverpool, England. What a beautiful piece of craftsmanship. It is everything I hoped it would be and more. I can't wait to start using it when my piano lessons start again in August.  It is good to know that there are still a few craftsmen left in the world that take pride in their work. The best customer service I have experienced.  Ordered a custom bag late Wednesday, emailed late Tuesday the following week asking for an update as I hoped to have the bag in time for a wedding on the Saturday of that week. They advised they would prioritise making the bag the next day and ship it. By 10:30am on the Thursday I received the bag! No additional shipping costs etc. Just part of their excellent customer service.  Really quick and helpful customer service. Would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a really high quality custom bag. Also the bag looks amazing! Thank you so much!

I love my briefcase satchel.  I had been looking for something smart and small to carry to and from work. I came across the Leather Satchel Co. and I was impressed by the look of the products, the bespoke service, and the company's commitment to manufacturing a quality product here in the UK.  I ordered some leather samples initially to help me decide what to go for. But I messed up. I ordered an 11" Briefcase Satchel and that was just too small for me - it didn't look right. Luckily the company has an outstanding "no questions asked" returns policy. I arranged the return and received a really helpful email from the MD, Keith asking me what I was really looking for. Keith and Shaun were then hugely helpful as I sent various queries and ideas to them, surely I was driving them mad by now, but they were endlessly patient and they gave great advice. Finally, I placed an order for the replacement satchel.  I opted for a 14" Briefcase Satchel in Distressed Walnut Husk. I added gold hardware, a shoulder pad, a key hook and changed the single front pocket for two front pockets. Just two weeks later the satchel arrived, and it is magnificent!  The bag looks amazing, really classy and so well made. 14" is just the right size for a minimal amount of stuff, it even takes my 14" laptop and everything else I need for a light day. The two pockets are great for my phones and the key hook is really handy. But the really amazing thing is how well balanced it is - the shoulder pads sits nicely on my shoulder, it's suede backed so it never slips making it a really easy carry. Fully loaded it doesn’t cause me any shoulder or back pain.  I'm hooked and I cannot recommend them highly enough. You should order one, I'm planning on a second much bigger one for days when I need to carry clothing with me as it gets colder and to use as an overnight bag. The team at TLSC is amazing! Their communication and skills are superb. My custom bag came quickly, despite having to cross the pond, and the packaging was amazing!! The quality of the leather blew me away! I will definitely be ordering more.
