After a lovely light lunch in the Lazy Toad we went for a gentle stroll along the river and found these quintessentially English views of cows in riverside meadows with churches and thatched cottages.
Just had a fabulous meal at this lovely gastropub. Is not cheap, but the food & service were first class! if I didn’t live the other end of the country I would visit again ASAP! Totally recommended
Welcoming, good service, good food, clean and tidy. One real ale though - two more would be better. A ploughman's and a Melton Mowbray pork pie etc. - lovely! 4.5 would be better. Very nice.
Not being mean, but the one star is to warn people that most of the other reviews here are now sadly out of date. If you knew it before, beware. It's changed hands, and they no longer do food - except light bites. See the website. Seems a real shame as it was great before, but there you go.
Lovely spot even on a dry January visit. Good local beers and produce. Lovely walks on the Exe. Closes from 3-6pm
Roasts were technically excellent but boring. For example the chicken roast came with a slim slice of stuffing. Friendly efficient professional service but they need to consider how tasty a chicken roast, priced at £15.95 could be.
Always a lovely experience! Gorgeous food and friendly staff. No wonder we keep returning.
