Poyntons local JD Wetherspoon outlet.

Story

The Kingfisher opened it's doors to locals on December 18th 2012. This JD Wetherspoons outlet was opened on the site of a former pub and taken its name from the original title, when the pub was built in 1964.

The pub’s bar has a viewing window into the working cellar.

The design of The Kingfisher reflects the village’s history as the first headquarters for Pickfords haulage and removal company.

The pub features artwork and murals, paintings by local artists Rob Wilson and David Bez and a commissioned sculpture of a flying kingfisher.

Like all JD Wetherspoons we offer a hugh variety of drinks which include wines, lagers, spirits to name a few and we are cask marque accredited so offer you the best tasting ales.

Our extensive food menu has something for everyone. Whether it be a snack or more of a main meal our menu will have something to suit. We have our famous club nights, steak club on Tuesday, 'Wing It' Wednesdays, Curry club on Thursday, Fish Fridays and Sunday club also. Each meal comes with a drink.

At the weekends The Kingfisher makes for a great evening. Whether you are wanting a quiet drink or to have a great evening with friends. The Kingfisher has excellent offers on food and drink.

"The pub is open for breakfast until 12 noon and offers free refills all day every day on tea and Lavazza coffee. For lunch and dinner, there are lighter bites, with deli deal options and vegetarian choices, gourmet burgers and freshly made pizzas. I've been working away again and used this spoons for food and drinks every night.nSevice so friendly and on point, drinks fresh and a big selection.nnFood, always piping hot and not bad at all.nnPoynton, you have a really good one here!
Great & Friendly Service ! Food is Almost always Served Fast and Always tastes great for the pricing.nnToilets are lovely and clean, never smell or are unappealing to use.nnPerfect for a nice night with family and friends at an affordable price.nnAtmosphere is great with Tables almost always clean and menu’s ready to be used with the floors being nice and clean too with there never really being any large amounts of crumbs or spilled food left on the floor.nMost of the time there’s usually a table to sit down ant immediately too when entering the pub which I find to be great and you don’t usually have to go searching for a table.
We visited this morning for breakfast and had a really positive experience. All of us ordered the traditional English breakfast and were genuinely impressed. The food arrived very quickly, was served hot, and everything was cooked really well. The quality was far better than you might expect for the price, with good portion sizes and great flavour.nnThe pub itself was clean, tidy and well looked after, and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. Despite it being fairly busy, the service was efficient and everything ran smoothly, which made the whole visit easy and enjoyable.nnFor the price, the value for money is excellent. It is a great place for a reliable, good quality breakfast without spending a fortune. We will definitely be returning and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quick, affordable and satisfying start to the day.
Visited here as a veteran group, the staff were extremely accommodating and the food was surprisingly good.nnWell done to James and the team.
Love this weatherspoons. It's clean and done really nicely so doesn't feel cheap or compromised by the price of the meals. I was really impressed by the building, decor and staff. It's one of the only places I can afford to eat out at now as I have 3 children and things are tight. I'd definitely recommend this place, particularly if you're eating out on a budget but still want nice food and a nice environment
