Story
The Kingfisher opened it's doors to locals on December 18th 2012. This JD Wetherspoons outlet was opened on the site of a former pub and taken its name from the original title, when the pub was built in 1964.
The pub’s bar has a viewing window into the working cellar.
The design of The Kingfisher reflects the village’s history as the first headquarters for Pickfords haulage and removal company.
The pub features artwork and murals, paintings by local artists Rob Wilson and David Bez and a commissioned sculpture of a flying kingfisher.

Normally I really enjoy coming here and it is a great place for the family, but in my refent visit I ordered the half chicken and it was basically a carcass with barely any chicken meat on it. Sadly, dissatisfied and disappointed with this order, so won't be ordering that again. But the other food they sell is normally brilliant.
Great service as always been here many times. Food is good value and excellent quality. Would recommend to all ages and plenty of choice. Parking on site is quite limited but there is a big free car park next door
Such a shame this place has gone down hill. As far as Wetherspoons go this used to be one of the best. We called in for a quick breakfast ahead of travelling. A usually quick satisfactory breakfast turned into quite a wait, both for drinks and food. The coffee machine just about made a warm coffee. Added black pudding to the breakfast it was that hard it could have been used as a hockey puck. They did provide more but the second late came just the same.
Excellent service always as have been here many times. Food is great quality and brilliant value for many. Great choice of food and drink. Will continue to go here and recommend to others. Note parking is limited
This Wetherspoons is a more modern / brighter pub compared to any others I’ve been to before. Food was consistent with other Wetherspoons. Staff were generally pleasant. On this occasion we decided to order from the bar instead of using the app special dietary requirements, I ordered a dessert and agreed I didn’t want it with main course, but when it didn’t arrive I had to chase it twice, so my advice is order food you want delivered later via the App
I have been invited by a friend to have a dinner with children. “ I would never visit however did because of the friend” We have ordered a food and drinks. Glasses were came with lipstick sign/ dirt. Cutlery's were dirty. we had to clean ourselves My son didn’t like the burger so he wanted just pizza but dough and cheese because of his needs. When our order came they brought us Margarita. Which we didn’t order. Waitress was rude to the point he accused me lying not wording properly. I speak English better than him unless he is racist I didn’t worded any other way. In fact my son who was born in England and speak English properly did order his own food. I also pointed out that bartender wasn’t listening to our order offered us wrong drink. However I waitress was rude to me and my son who was little. Overall impolite, racist, horrible attitude front of children. Please replay your cctvs before accusing the customer. And make sure ask permission of the person before using the body cameras especially involving children. Otherwise I would like the copy of it.
My favourite Weatherspoons! The restaurant is very cozy and spacious and the outside area is lovely in the summer. Me and my family visit here regularly and it rarely disappoints only when they run out of certain menu items but there is always lots of other options to choose from it's your average Weatherspoons menu but it's great quality food at a reasonable price! This particular branch always stands out to me for how clean it always is and it has a really nice atmosphere
One of the nicest Spoons I've been in regarding modernisation, however disappointing food wise. Nearly 20 minute wait - very unusual. Mixed grill missing the sausage. Burger was barely warm and overcooked. Second burger missing the sauce. Chips were cold. Unusual as it was midweek and wasn't particularly busy regarding people eating. Bar staff were very good though.
I don't know whether it's due to been located in quite a nice area but this Spoons seems to have had a little more care and attention devoted to detail. It does seem more like a flagship pub from thier usual vast selection dotted around the country. I do like the big kingfisher behind the bar .nice touch. Obviously, the food and beer is standard as you would get from any Spoons. Reasonable and fair priced.
Great pub, not only vibrant and buzzing, but great value too. The food was perfect and the staff amazing good & friendly. Even more shocking... the menus weren't dirty or sticky. Tis this really Wetherspoons heaven?
