This place has gone downhill! All the tables were filthy and food left on them for over an hour! Also I had to ask for new clean knives and forks due to them still being sticky. Also all my food and my partners food was very poor quality and all cold. I used to love going here but now I will NEVER go again !!!! This place needs a visit from the food hygiene health and safety inspection council!!!

A lovely atmosphere, they had the fire lit. We weren't right next to it but we embraced its warmth. Really nice food for an excellent price, especially if that meal includes a free drink. Gorgeous puddings and great service. I've been to a few chain pubs and this is by far the best we've visited. Our first choice for a night off from cooking, Thanks.

Sure the staff had been replaced by robots, so miserable! No pleasantries or smiles and and when the food arrived we asked the guy to give our table a clean first as it was sticky and full of crumbs, and it was the best looking empty table we found! Out of his pocket was produced a dirty rag and the table given a half hearted wipe down so all the dirt had transferred to just in the middle. When the plates got put down I had 15 chips and they were the little stumpy end bits and the steak I ordered medium looked as though it hadn't been shown the pan for more than 30 seconds each side! We called the Duty Manager over and she looked so miserable before we'd voiced our complaints that we decided it wasn't worth staying! Absolutely disgusting!

Always a good menu and cheap. Don't knock the cheap stuff, if you want decent food and good variety, including 'non chip' meals, try a Wetherspoons. OK it's busy, but for a good ' in and out' meal, hard to beat.

Me and my friends came in to have a drink and a couple was having food. When we walked in none of the tables had been cleared. We had been sat there 50 mins and only 1 table had been fully cleared in that time which took 2 waiters to do because one didn't finish the job! It does not look good and is poor service.
