Never eaten here before.. Nice atmosphere on arrival and a good well spaced out pub. Opted for the 2 meat roast whilst my wife had the 12hr roast beef lunch. On appearance looked very appealing but unfortunately the roast beef which was my first taste was very chewy. So tried another piece from which again was very chewy. So tried the turkey which was OK but had a rather old taste to it.. the star of the show was the vegetables. The swede mash was nicely seasoned as well as the red cabbage. 2 half cut roast potatoes.. underseasoned and cold have at least had a couple more. The gravey again was lacked flavour but that is my personal taste. For the price it was OK in all but in all was disappointed in comparing with other pub roasts we have had. Nice atmosphere though and great for families.
My son and I went in half 6 Saturday evening having just phoned ahead to check. Pub was bustling with a good atmosphere and the restaurant was filling up. Lovely friendly staff tended to us throughout the meal which was delicious! I had the chicken fillet, which had lovely crispy skin and the caramelised onion and potato gratin was fantastic and all held together with a great sauce. He had rump steak, medium rare, which was really nicely cooked. Desserts were equally good. I had sticky toffee pudding which was moist with lots of toffee sauce and a really generous helping of ice cream. He had the chocolate and salted caramel cake which was chocoholics heaven! Highly recommended.
Loved it,reasonable prices,great menu,we will return.Food: 5/5
Good Gluten Free experience. New to being gluten free and fairly conscious about where I eat. The food choices were good and tasty. Generally find anything with gluten free bread pretty rubbish regardless of where you go so try and avoid this but the sea bass risotto was delicious. Staff were very aware and conscious of my needs and reassured me of the process in ensuring there’s no cross contamination. Look forward to returning soon.
Have been here for a roast many times over the years, and they are usually very good. However, today I had a roast and ordered what I usually order and the quality of the food was very different. I ordered the half chicken roast, the chicken itself was lovely, however it came with barely any vegetables for some reason. The vegetables themselves were good, but there was barely any. Then for dessert, I ordered a sticky toffee pudding, which was a huge let down. It came with barely any sauce on, and ice cream? I have ordered it several times in the past and it has always come with an abundance of sauce and been delightful. Perhaps there has been a change in kitchen staff, but the quality of the food appears to be declining.
Staff really nice and efficient. We hadn't bookedA Sunday afternoon,I intended to have Fish n Chips, but went "Sharing Platter Roast" with the other half. Blimey good call, it was huge Roasties, mixed veg., Turkey, Beef, Pork belly, half a roast chicken, Mash/swedes loads of Gravy Fab! Well done. Parking: Plenty of space on the car park
I found the John Millington to have a lovely atmosphere, people chatting, instead of no loud blaring music in some places I've visited, there's 3 of us eating with , all Inc soup of the day , main and 2 extras then 3 drinks .. we only had a bottle of water during.. the meal . It was just over £68.00 We all loved Our meals .. Go there for yourself .. And See the Environment for yourself .... . As you can see I hardly touched my Ring Onions , As I loved my Char grilled sauce burger with fries so much .. however.. the rings are juicy with a crunch... Wheelchair accessibility: Flat door entrance disabled parking , bring blue badges .
We vegan came with our grandparents non-vegan for Sunday dinner expecting the reliable pub curry we’ve had in the past, and left totally blown away by the carrot Wellington and biscoff cheesecake. We ate our way through London’s vegan scene in 2018 and this stands up there with any adaptation of British cuisine we tried. The star was obviously the Wellington, but the perfectly cooked veg and rich gravy took it to the next level. The cheesecake was impressively light yet rich and a wonderful use of an accidentally-vegan favorite. Been vegan for approaching a decade and this was a special meal we’ll remember for a long time, at a very reasonable price. Something for everyone in a warm, refined atmosphere. Our highest compliments to the chef, and heartfelt thanks for a vegan option that’s not just an afterthought. Hope people can try them every day and not just Sunday!
One of the best places for a cheese, and onion pie, albeit they can be a bit skimpy with the chips at times Though unfortunately it can also be inconstant in regards to how big your pie will actually be as well sometimes infinitesimal, as evidenced by one of these photographs… Still it’s a lovely little place that more or less requires you to sign into their WiFi as I’m sure that Hydes pubs cut off data on purpose Still, it’s worth a visit, worth a gamble… make your own mind up
Portion size was very poor, I had the treacle baked ham, 3 very small pieces not even making a full slice. My wife had strawberry arctic roll, again 2 very thin slices, so thin the cook must be very skilled, 3mm. So not a great experience at all. I won't be going back.Food: 1/5
