We popped in for lunch in a Monday as we were in the area. We pre booked a table, which I would recommend doing as it was very busy. Our coats were taken as we arrived and were given a ticket, so that we could collect them again when we left.nnThe setting of the restaurant, along with the decor is wonderful.nnGood choice on the menu various options on a set menu too and service was great and very friendly.nnWe had non alcoholic cocktails as we were driving, looked great and tasted great.nnFood arrived, and was beautifully presented. All tasted great, with decent portion sizes too. We had scallops and steak tartare to start, mains were salmon and chicken.nnWe didn’t have room for a desert, but they all looked fab!nnAnother Ivy and another lovely meal.
We got there slightly early while it was still fairly quiet.nnOur server, Lola, and the rest of the staff there, were friendly and attentive but never intrusive.nnThe food, while a tad expensive, was truly excellent, with a depth of flavour I don't often encounter.nnI strongly recommend the Duck Parfait and the Shepherd's Pie. My wife hugely enjoyed her baked SalmonnnThe building is a converted bank, with a huge domed roof. Interesting and a little quirky with the walk-in safe still installed and in use as an office In the main central area the walls are decorated with racing scenes.nnSeating was comfortable and didn't have everyone crowded too close.nnThe restrooms were well-equipped, clean and well maintained.nnThe pianist/singer was enjoyable and easy to listen to - but not too loud or intrusive so that it was still quite easy to have a conversation.
We were a group of six coming here for a family get-together and we had a wonderful time. The food here was top class and the service was courteous if sometimes a bit slow. The building is historic and although our table was in a different room, the huge domed bar area is unique. The menu was rich and the wine list quite extensive. We came away with a good feeling of having enjoyed one of the best meals for a very long time.
Absolutely superb dinner! Had a two course meal from the signature '1917' menu - the flavour was amazing! The venue is uniquely & delightfully decorated, and delight for horse lovers and all others alike. Can highly recommend!
A special birthday call for a special location, and the Ivy Cheltenham did not lt us down. The staff were very attentive, their smiles were real and their uniforms were a pleasant change from the normal black jeans/leggings and black tops that most restaurants seem to be adopting.nnThe food was amazing, and the plenty to choose from too.nnAll in all, a great day was had
