We visited again. This time for afternoon lunch with the in-laws. Once again we enjoyed first class service and sumptuous food at very reasonable prices.nThe free park is located within a few metres so that help with my Mother in Laws mobility problems.nThe restaurant is beautifully decorated and the menu extensive offering al a carte or a set price two or three course offering. Thank you for another lovely visit. See you soon.
We had our second lunch here and the restaurant staff and manager were very pleasant.nOnly downside was my husband showed our gift voucher on his phone with all the details but the hotel receptionist needed the actual email which my daughter sent to me with the voucher attached.nThis had a personal message to me for my birthday and maybe I didn't want anyone else to see it....nIt was unnecessary and we felt disbelieved. She could have easily extracted the voucher number from my husband's screen.
Went today for festive afternoon tea. We were sat in huge chairs making it difficult to eat. We were completely ignored, though other guests were asked if they needed anything. Had to grab their attention with some staff walking off ignoring you, to get a drink of water. We had to ask twice for a box to take remaining things home.nOther guests had hot water and sugar with their tea and were asked again if wanted more, we had no hot water or sugar and again not asked if wanted anything.nFood was plentiful and was okay.nHad to go ask for our coats and the bill. When I paid I mentioned we were ignored and he said they were extremely busy, this was a cop out as the other guests were attended too. It was a shame as I wanted to make it a good memory/experience with my daughter. Service not worth the money paid for it. To not go into the restaurant was unexpected.
My husband and I have just returned from a two day stay at The Imperial Hotel Barnstaple. We retired to Devon 18 years ago and it was our first visit to Barnstable what a lovely town centre. Great to see beautiful shops and bars what a vibrant place.nThe icing on the cake was the hotel Imperial alongside the river and a few steps away from the town centre. What a gem this hotel is from the time we stepped inside we were looked after so well. Greeted by pleasant helpful and professional staff. The hotel decor was excellent beautifully decorated and welcoming. The Christmas decorations were gorgeous. We only booked a small room as this was our first definitely not our lastvisit. We were given an upgrade thank you for that. Room was perfect obviously decor was thought about carefully down to simple positioning of mirrors etc.nWe didn’t eat in the restaurant this time but did have an evening drink in the bar which was a perfect cosy welcoming room. The ambiance of the whole hotel and friendly staff was exceptional.nWe look forward to our next stay hopefully for a longer visit.nDefinitely recommend this hotel if you like old school courtesy and decor beautifully done.nThank you to you all.nRegards Jude and Jeff Cooper
Old school class. Immaculately turned out staff, excellent bar and dining to be had at very reasonable prices. Not a purple bedspread in sight. Highly recommended.
