Delicious pork belly, the red cabbage also deserves a shout out as it was lovely. The whole meal was delicious. I didn't feel hugely welcomed, most staff were pleasant enough, just didn't feel like I was particularly wanted there, however the food was so nice I'm still rating a 5. The food is on the pricier side but very much worth it
One of my favourite restaurants. My husband and I had an overnight stay here, and the food was absolutely superb. Starters tasted amazing and beautifully presented, and the steaks had fantastic flavour and cooked to our liking. We also had a few drinks before and after our meal in front of the fire in bar area, which again were throughly enjoyed. Can't express how good this restaurant is so good we have already booked another dinner reservation , and would absolutely recommend. We stayed 1 night in room 6. The room/ bathroom were smaller than expected but had everything we needed for an overnight stay. The only thing that we were not keen on was the mattress, which was too soft for us which is a personal preference. Breakfast in the morning was lovely! Vegetarian options: Lots of tasty vegetarian options available. Parking: Free parking and plenty spaces.
We have just had our first visit to the Horseshoe Inn and we will definately come back. The Sunday dinners were great, food quality excellent, desserts delicious, coffee and tea hot, service friendly, helpful and efficient. Lovely relaxed pub atmosphere with very good range of drinks. The inn is dog friendly and all the dogs were well behaved and unobtrusive. We really had a lovely time. Thank you :
Found this place after googling dog friendly pubs near to Peebles and so glad we did. Very accommodating and the staff were very attentive. The food is delicious and a great selection. We loved it so much we came back for a 2nd night. Would highly recommend if in area.
Wow I thought I had hit the Jackpot, what a amazing place how could one little hotel hold so much character. My Hart drop as the receptionist said we had no booking in your name. It was an impromptu trip I had booked 1 twin room and 1 double room the night before both at £85 each. It was late evening and very rural I was so relieved when he said hey had Vacancies it was alot more expensive but I paid £230 this was £70 more that expected. The twin room was the same price My room was so small it was lucky I was on my own it would of been a real struggle for2 people to sleep in the bed. I will say he rooms were decorated beautifully and the beds extremely comfortable. We went to the bar to wait for my Step son who was driving to meet up from Ayr we waited as long as we could with the Kitchen closing at 8pm we could not wait any longer so we were shown into the dining area. After a couple of Minutes we weer told that they needed the table I thought this was strange as it really was busy I was to tired after a 7 hour drive to question this, so we ate our dinner in the bar. This itself was not a problem but left us all wondering why we were not allowed in the dining area Maybe it was the way we were dressed, was it because we were English, or the mental health of my nephew or was it because of his Indian heritage. This still doesn’t sit right with me and ruined what would of been a really pleasant stay. As a business owner myself I would not dream of making my customers feel so unwanted .
We stopped at The Horseshoe having made a slight detour to visit and I’m so pleased we did. A super little pub with friendly staff and excellent food at good value. Well worth a visit if you’re in the area.
Had really high hopes for this, it was just OK to good, for the price you pay. There are better places in this price range. When I booked, I'd booked a table for 5 adults and a child stated in phone call. Upon arrival we were seated in the restaurant then moved to another area as the dining room is adult only. That's fine, but tell me at the time of booking : Our waiter was really helpful and described the menu really well. Scallops starter was alright, scallops were tasty but the sauce was a wee bit watery and not great seasoning. Olives and bread were lovely, the nachos starter was great. For main the steak pie was awesome! Although they wouldn't go to the effort of making a children's portion, which many, many places have done for us if needed in the past, wasn't too busy either. Even if the pies are pre prepared, it's pretty easy to rattle off a kids pie. Venison shank was beautiful, really soft and fell off the bone, lovely rumbledethump and sticky cabbage too!! But the sauce, I'm not sure if they'd used dry berries or a dry ingredient, was full of hard crunchy bits that weren't very pleasant. The stroganoff was very bitter and mustardy? As opposed to creamy. It wasn't very good. The gluten free fish ordered was beautiful fish, but caked in a really, thick, heavy batter, which as a result, was under cooked. The shin of beef was beautiful. All of the puddings were magic. The venue didn't seem bothered about going the extra wee bit and I wouldn't rush back. Mixed bag.
Loved the food. The venison shank was so tender and tasty. Took a while for our maibs to arrive but served by very friendly staff who were clearly wirking hard. Beautiful decor and only scored down the atmosphere due to other diners being quite noisy. A very enjoyable experience.Food: 5/5
Quality food excellent staff very friendly and helpful. My wife and I had a lovely afternoon will definitely be backFood: 5/5
We were here at the same time as Amanda Carnie we were the large group at the big table near the bar across from her family. Our grandson has multiple allergies and we always get a good selection of foods for him here which is not on the regular menu. The staff on this occasion were efficient and attentive. It was our grandsons 13th birthday and the staff arranged for his cake to be presented to him. They made this special birthday a night to remember. It is sad to see someone put up such a critical review of a restaurant that has a large loyal following across the local area. Keep up the good work Horseshoe
