A great galleried beast of a place! The Hope is a delightful pub situated across the road from Wandsworth Common. Very welcoming staff and great cold beer! A few casks on for the Real Ale lovers too. There is also plenty of seating outside for when the sun shines, it is shining today. A most enjoyable visit.
Could be a nice place but unfortunately, it's not run well. Basics of customer service are not upheld. We came as a group of 4 adults and 4 children. We ordered our food, but rather than telling us right away that two dishes weren't available any more, the waiter came back 5 mins later to inform us about it. We changed the order and didn't think much about it. However, 20min into the waiting time they told us that the order for the kids also wasn't available and we would have to change. If you have small kids you know how well that goes down with them... This really should have been handled at the time of the order. When te food arrived, they managed to serve a cheeseburger without cheese and after complaining simply placed a cold slice of cheese on the burger. To their credit they offered a free drink on the house after we rejected the cold cheese, but ultimately the sheer number of issues did not instill confidence. Food overall was ok from the portion sizes vegan burger on the small end but you'd get better and cheaper fish and chips at your local chippie. I might return for a drink, but will probably stay clear of the food.
I ordered a plant-based burger with chips and got the inners of the burger with no bun. The reason was that the bread had milk… so, how can it be advertised as plant-based? And why there are no other options give? Felt ~£13 went directly into the bin…
We had a meal there for 30 people including 15 kids from 0 to 10 after a Christening and it couldn't have been better. The service was genuinely brilliant: there was nothing that they wouldn't do, no exasperation with kids or dragging their feet, they were just happy to help and serve and do what they could to make it work. They were also thinking ahead and accommodating us before we'd thought of what we needed. The food was delicious my wife said the best nachos she'd ever had, and the bread starter loaf was also great, but really it was the service that made the meal so good. We took flowers to arrange on the tables, gave a short speech, and it was all embraced without any hint of stress. The only things I would change would be to add service on when people are paying individually for their meals so the last person doesn't get a huge tab to clear and to take the deposit off the final bill as it is, we need to go back to get the deposit, which isn't a big deal as we're fairly close, but would have been easier if we'd got it there and then. But otherwise, a great celebration for us and everyone enjoyed it.
We had the most amazing party here with live music which they do every Friday! Stefan was the most helpful, efficient and wonderful host for the night - he really made the night. It's so rare to find such amenable venues in London - this place is really unique. Can't recommend it enough. A huge thank you to John and the team :
Great local pub and the staff are really down to earth and friendly. Popped by with a friend on Wednesday and as always a nice vibe. Shout out to stefan on the bar who went out of his way to cheer us up : Love that cute dogs are always in too! we will be back to try the food as recommended! Thanks
Fabulous pub, gorgeous food and brilliant staff. I held a lunch there for 30 people for a special birthday and the whole experience was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble for them, all my guests commented on the quality of the food and everything was done with a smile. Really recommend it.
Hosted a surprise birthday in the snug area over the weekend and had a really good experience with the venue. The staff were extremely helpful, even when there were last minute adjustments - thank you to Stefan Stefan and Olivia who were especially helpful. Would thoroughly recommend!
The Hope is probably one of my favorite pubs in South West London, its dog friendly, has a great atmosphere with a wide variety of beers on draft and clean lines. Stefan and the team are so friendly and always happy to help. 100% would recommend.
The food was awesome. Great gravy! All the staff were rushed off their feet and they were excellent. Could see how hard they were working on a super busy day. Very accommodating and super friendly. Thank you! Jill
