We recently had out wedding reception at The Harcourt and cannot recommend them enough. We had 50 guests in the garden room and conservatory for dinner and a 2 person band after the meal. We all fitted in just fine and plenty of room for dancing once tables are moved to the side. The food was delicious, with plenty of options for our guests to choose prior to the day. They also catered well for dietary needs. The staff were really helpful in the build up, responding to any questions we had and preparing the room just as we wanted it. On the day the staff were fantastic! Really proactive and ensuring all the guests were happy. Highly recommend for an event, a delicious meal or a cozy drink at the bar!
We had our wedding reception here for 45 people, including 5 children. From the time of booking the event, 6 months earlier up to the day, there were 3 changes of management. This meant that communication was difficult and led to some uncertainty. Our wedding coordinator actually left the company, but we were not informed, which panicked us as we could not get hold of anyone as the event date approached. Eventually, Yana came through and took control of the situation. Apart from some minor adjustments to the table layout, everything was in place, in time, and the event went off without a hitch. The staff were attentive and welcoming, but they could have maybe done with one extra pair of hands as the service was just slightly slow at times. Everyone commented on how lovely the food was, especially the stake, and the chef went out of his way to accommodate any special dietary requirements. The venue looked lovely with the flowers and candles. It's just the right size for that number of people and the staff cleared the tables after dinner so that we could all have a boogie. In all, the event was a great success, and we all thoroughly enjoyed the evening. I would definitely recommend it as a venue for any celebration and it was very good value for the money

There must have been change of management/chef.. Used to come for their signature Swedish meatballs, which is no longer on the menu. Food was all greasy and way too salty, we couldn’t finish them. Meat didn’t feel very high quality. Staff were friendly but service was quite slow too. We won’t be coming back
Enjoyed our small lunch here and was impressed with how big the pub is inside, with several floors, so much larger than it looks from outside. Superb atmosphere! But the highlight is ofc the food, quite a different menu from what you would see at the neighbouring pubs. Lot’s of fish and seafood options at a decent price. Definitely recommend the place
The Sunday roast was really on point! The ambience is cool too. The servers were nice but seemed a bit overwhelmed / understaffed. They didn’t really come at any point to the table other than to bring the food not even to bring the menus. I had to go to the bar to get menus, order everything, pay for the bill, even though there’s supposed to be table service.
Sometimes it becomes very crowded. The food taste can be improved. We booked the place and went with specific dietary requirements, it was handled well in some cases and not so well in some dishes. Service is really good, food can be improved.
We were considering their white room for a private event. While the room itself is lovely, we were really disappointed with the service and quality of food. Some of the staff were really nice, however their event manager was never available in-person. Our requests were never passed on to the manager/staff at the pub on the 2 occasions we visited to confirm our booking. They seemed all over the place and unprofessional in the way they responded to queries. We got contradictory answers on menu & decor options. And the biggest deal breaker for us was the quality of food - it was extremely salty.
My daughter/son-in-law booked this for their wedding reception. Total 50 guests. Really impressive. Great service, nice food, good atmosphere. I would heartily recommend this for anyone looking for a venue for special occasions. We used the Garden room downstairs. The Harcourt recommended a 2 man band for the evening entertainment who were absolutely amazing. My daughter/son-in-law really impressed also. If I had to be picky I would say I wouldn’t have wanted to fit more than 50 in the space it was cosy. We had the option to come upstairs to use the bar area if you wanted to speak to others in a quieter environment. A huge thumbs up from us to the Harcourt. Thankyou for making this such a special day. Food & drinks: Wedding venue.
I wouldn’t normally comment on a restaurant when you’re a guest of someone’s, but our Christmas lunch was without doubt the lowest quality meal I’ve had when out on business. A combination of shards of bone in the pork, dry cold fish and some elements that simply didn’t turn up until we were leaving. Staff were friendly and the venue is nice, but the food needs serious improvement.
