Beautiful cast iron pedestrian bridge that spans 43 metres over the River Liffey. It was opened in 1816 as a toll bridge and stopped charging in 1919. The iconic Dublin bridge is best viewed early morning or late at night, if you want to avoid the crowds.
A beautiful 19th century example of classic engineering and architecture. As an engineer I love seeing structures built so long ago still functional and beautiful hundreds of years later. Loved seeing it, walking across it and especially being there with my beautiful wife.
Fabulous views of the river from here and such lovely architecture. It does seem a place homeless people sit however Dublin seems to have alot of homeless people no mater were you walk. So be generous and remember 50 cent to you maybe nothing but to someone else could mean they eat!
Amazing how a little imperfection can make it absolutely perfect, adorable, personal. This bridge has a personality I wish some people had. The world would be a much more beautiful and compassionate. The bridge you want to hug.
The iconic Ha'penny Bridge in Dublin is a wonderful iron bridge, always a pleasure to walk over the. In the footsteps of thousands of Dubliners this historic bridge is a wonderful image for Dublin. So called as it was originally a toll bridge and it charged a half penny to cross. If in Dublin enjoy the experience of walking over the bridge.
Ha’penny Bridge might look like it’s just another bridge. But if you read about the history, you will know how significant this bridge is. This bridge was built in the 1816 and there apparently half a penny was the toll that had to be paid until the year 1919 in order to cross this bridge. This is from where the name Ha’penny originated as the actual name of this bridge was Wellington bridge. I wonder if Dubliners know the original of the name. But this is definitely of importance and a must see one if you are in Dublin.
This bridge is very meaningful to me. Before Saturday July 9, I never heard of it. By 9 pm that evening, I was on the top of the bridge being proposed to! It was incredible, romantical, beautiful and so so busy!!! But there he was, on his knee! Of course I said yes! There was no other answer for me! As we are hugging and loving the moment, a young girl comes up to us and says "I was watching your beautiful moment and was taking photos of you two! Would you like to have them?". Heck yes!!!!! The photo is one of the ones she sent me! I love this bridge!
Interesting bridge in Dublin. In the past, a long time ago, you had to pay to cross the bridge. One of the most famous landmarks of the city and especially at night great illuminated, during the day the bridge is full of tourists.
This is the famous place in Dublin and it’s a must visit . The sunset looks beautiful and it’s always crowded since it’s the bridge between two streets. The scene is beautiful here .
Cool iconic bridge, one of many here in Dublin but this is my favourite due to its wrought iron architecture. Just imagine how many Guinness inebriated Dublin lads have staggered across this river bridge after a night out in the town!
