This was a real find during our day trip to Skipton in the summer, so much so that on our recent day out to the Christmas Market we visited again. We also recommended it to family who paid a visit during their holiday. With a great selection of interesting and unusual beers on offer, and very importantly a friendly welcome, this is a truly special bottle shop. Already planning our next escape from Stoke-on-Trent, so we hope to visit again next year.
We come on holiday once or twice a year to nearby Gargrave and The Growling Shrew has become my first port of call to stock up on beers for the week, after discovering it in October 2021. An amazing selection of craft beers which are completely different each time. The owner is extremely helpful and friendly too. Looking forward to my next visit!
What a find - great selection of beers and some of the nicest gins we've ever tried. Helpful owners who provided great information about things to do in Skipton and provided a very generous gin tasting. Great place for a pre dinner drink not just to buy bottles.
Skipton has been crying out for an authentic bottle shop and it now has one! Had a great chat with the owner and love the ethos. All local beers and nothing from any 'big' breweries. He's clearly very knowledgeable and passionate about craft beers. This came across when I found out he had no staff and was running the shop 7 days a week in addition to ordering and collecting the beers! I also filled up a growler with one of the great beers on offer. Just polished it off and it was fantastic! Have my loyalty card and will definitely be back. Looking forward to my lucky 13th free growler big bottle on the right. Picture was taken at my house and not in the shop!
Brilliant staff ever so friendly to me and wife and chance to try a new cider out never drunk before. If you like your beers then this concept would be great for you.
I popped into here while on holiday in Yorkshire. Got some really good advice and recommendations that fit my tastes. Was also offered free samples which would've been great had I not been designated driver that day! Highly recommended if you're in the area and want to try some local beers.
What is not to love about the place. You buy a bottle growler and then buy an ale/ipa/stout/cider to put it in. There is always new ones to try. You can sit on and have a beer and the owner is excellent.
This little shop was such a fab find , love the concept of the bottle refil with some really lovely ales & beers as well as lots of locally produced gins & super friendly owner with a fountain of knowledge about all products in the shop. Loved today's IPA choice too, it just didn't last long enough! Xx

Wonderful stop before the train home. Lovely clean lay out, top guy with great knowledge. Bought some amazing rose gin.... So beautiful and lovely background story. Will be back!
