Had a business lunch today, so nice coming out of Covid to get out and about! Had pie and mash with gravy and veg, colleague had ham egg n chips. Good quality food. Service was adequate.
The service was outstanding and the food great! The atmosphere of the pub is cheerful and clean. We will definitely be back!
Went for a lovely family Sunday lunch 6th November. So disappointed, waited over 1/2 hour just to put a drinks order in. 2 hours later we eventually got our main course. Would have had a dessert, but didn't want to wait any longer. Food was very good , service very poor. Lost any future business from our family.
Good food, great service and a lovely atmosphere.
We were a group of 22 17 adults 5 children were asked to pre book the Christmas menu which we did, not allowed to mix with roast lunch. Starters were nice but main course was small and very over cooked, the turkey was dry, those that the beef said it was almost burnt, 2 of every vegetable roast potatoes, carrots, sprouts, pigs in blankets, only 1 very small parsnip. This was made worse by having to watch other tables have the traditional Sunday roast which was on bigger plates and looked beautiful with medium rare beef and vegetables falling of the plate and Yorkshire pudding. It was like it came out of two different kitchens. Don't really understand.
This is my local pub and can always be guaranteed on for great food, a lovely atmosphere and good variety of drinks. The servers are normally very attentive but lastnight felt like a new person was serving us and wasn't quite up to the Grouse and Ale's normal high standards. But none the less the food was still delicious.
Sunday lunch was fab. I had the pork, friends had the beef. Roast potatoes, Yorkshire pud, parsnips, cauliflower cheese, green beans….. Had a takeaway roast for hubby and he loved it. Would totally recommend but would suggest booking as it gets very busy .
The Grouse and Ale is a very busy pub in the run up to Christmas but does not affect the food quality although service slows a little. However staff very helpful and doing their best so no complaints there. Very accomodating with the small children present and the kids meals substantial !! Will come again one day
Last minute drop-in on Good Friday lunchtime for 8 based on Google reviews, and we were not disappointed! Quiet I guess people are busy on GF? pub with really friendly staff, and excellent food - definitely will return if in the area again
Catered very smoothly for a party of 16. Tested the menu range to the full & every dish was tasty hot & served on time. Thank you to all the staff who made it work.
