Nice pub, befitted to a night out. Visited here with a couple of colleagues and had a great meal and beverage. The draft beer was top notch, Griffin gets rave reviews for their pies and the slow cooked beef ale pie kept up to the expectations.
You might walk past this pub thinking it's just another high street boozer, but the reality is far removed. Great atmosphere inside, excellent food with a great range of choice from the menu. Very helpful and friendly staff and overall, good value for money.
Always have a great meal here and the staff are so attentive and nice. Highly recommended. Tonight I had crispy pheasant strips followed by venison pie and some Cornish Tribute Ales
We had a fantastic meal. We were a large party of 17, everything was perfect, all the food was served at once, it was all hot, very, very tasty and good value for money. Harriet looked after us really, really well, as did the rest of the staff. This is the fourth time we've been for a family occasion, it's brilliant. I would recommend it to anybody.
Went for Sunday dinner with my wife, son and mum. Really lovely staff. Both of our servers were wonderful. Food arrived quickly and was amazing! We had the mushroom Wellington, oh so good! Mum had Steak and ale pie. Wow!, it was huge, she couldn't finish it. Roast potatoes excellent, fresh vegetables lovely. The desserts were great, sorbets and ice cream, brownie and mocha torte. Can't fault anything. Definitely recommend and revisit.
A pleasant town centre establishment, more of a restaurant than a pub. That said, a good choice of 4 cask ales and the one sampled was in excellent condition and well served by friendly bar staff. Good choice of food for lunch and very tasty and prompt. The food served was not accurately described on the menu but good nevertheless ie missing avocado from salad and replaced by some odd starchy grain. Clean tidy spacious in good decor.
Excellent service and location. Usually quite busy so it's recommended to book. Reasonable food, but the service was impeccable - very impressed. Prices are average. Would probably return, thanks for a nice dinner!
Great Pub, comfy and good for a night out. Been there last weekend with some work colleagues and had a great meal and best service ever. Lucian has served us and made the best recommendations and really great service! Thanks Lucian and keep it up!
Lovely dinner at the Griffin! The food was delicious and the service was absolutely outstanding. Big thank you to Lucian who throughout his service to our table have made us feel so welcomed and supported making our experience even greater. The atmosphere was really good too, as always. Highly recommend
It was a last minute booking as we failed to find a table where we usually go. They offered us a table with a probable 30 minute wait at the bar. We waited 2 minutes! Excellent service, and even though the place was full we didn't have to wait too long for the food. If you're looking for a great Sunday lunch I'd certainly recommend it here. I had the 'trio", beef, pork and turkey. It was excellent and very generous portions. I managed to have a pudding, and asked for extra custard. And for once I actually got it! The Bakewell tart was wonderful. Very reasonable prices and attentive but not overbearing service. Certainly wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Griffin.
