Very poor service. The buses keep breaking down if it’s too cold or too hot. My kids have been left stranded in the snow for over an hour and didn’t get home until 6pm one day. Don’t bother calling customer services because they are not trained to deal any queries and are far from polite. They charge you a £1000 for a pass then have the audacity to charge an unexpected surcharge for fuel when they got paid for nothing during lockdown. No compensation is ever given for all the times their buses have been extremely late or broken down. It’s dirty, disgusting and unhygienic inside buses too. They spend no money on maintenance of the buses. ONLY use them if you have no other option whatsoever.
Used the company with 2 children for c.5 years. You'll hear lots of positive messages from Mr Mack and his team at school open days about the service and on face value, like me, you'll go with it especially if you've no alternatives. My experience has been that the fleet quality is 'variable' and it was usual for a bus to breakdown and/or be late due to a breakdown at least 2- 3 times per week. Often other buses had to be sent to recover children. Routes were poorly planned and, again, it would not be unusual for my children to arrive at School or return home late. Journey times from Aston/Handsworth to Walmley could easily last 90 mins each way. A 2 hour journey was not unexpected. We continued to pay all the way through months of lockdown for services which were not used in the hope that this would help sustain the service. No appreciation from them on this and the company now have the gall to tell customers to pay a fuel surcharge for increased costs. All responses to feedback/complaints suggest little ownership of problems and they are not really interested in developing a relationship with customers. Let's say that there is corporate confidence at one end of the scale and there is corporate arrogance at the other..... The drivers are the best asset. Looking at Glassdoor reviews it appears that they are treated poorly by the company also. In conclusion I would recommend you use this service only if you have to and have no other viable options. If you have other options I plead that you use them. If you do use this company, please do so expecting a fragmented customer experience and very long days for your children even if they live c. 6 miles away from the schools. I have nothing to gain or loose by writing this review - I am simply stating facts from my experience which is not unusual.
Do not waste your time using this service. An incident had happened with my child where a bus driver used inappropriate language, we tried to call management but no one had answered, my partner confronted the driver of the bus 845, my daughter was permanently excluded despite no one hearing her side of what has happened, I have now escalated this matter further. Do not use. Joke of a company, director Ian Mack, was no help at all.
Terrible company. In addition to all of the things that are mentioned in the other reviews fuel surcharge, broken down buses etc, they have now turned around and cancelled the service that I use for my child to get to school. Not only that but they gave 1 day notice and have not yet removed the details from their website or Google Maps. What this means is that when searching for alternative transport on Google Maps, the results are polluted by Green Bus services which are no longer running, causing even more confusion for my Son as it takes priority over actual running services. Google, please can you get these services removed from your Journey Planner? Mine is the 884 but I know there are others.
My daughter has been using the green bus for just over a year now and can't fault them. Very friendly staff and drivers. Text messages keep you informed and tracking available online. Even helpful enough to arrange to drop daughters phone off on route back after she left it on the bus. Drivers always pleasant. Takes the worry out of sending her to school by herself.
Amazing staff!! Today my son didn’t get off at his stop , the day before he’s seat belt was stuck and the driver helped him, so today as the driver pulled up he saw me waiting and went to help my son and returned saying “he’s not here!” I was in panic stations where was my child? The Green Bus were so efficient in their efforts helping me locate my son Thank you so much to the manager for being So calm with me , the drivers for their quick response and all the team for having a great system in place . I was so worried and anxious for my son , but really amazing guys The manager was so calm he soothed my anxiety and calmed me . I’ve had 2 other children in previous years Who used the green bus service but this anxiety was never bought upon me by them . Really Thank-you, to all at the Green Bus!!
This bus service was good 3 years ago but little by little the service is getting worse to the point that it's not reliable at all. They set unrealistic times for the drivers and it results in leaving your children stranded in the morning. Very unsafe. They change the route to save themselves more profit and now children are getting late to go to school and takes more than hour late to come of their schedule time. If you have other ways to travel, use that.
Over the past week this service 742 Kinver has left children standing at the side of the road with no service and no communication, On the 17/09/21 a driver said the service was ending today as they were handing it back with no notification to customers. On Phoning I spoke to a rude arrogant man who would not acknowledge that leaving children standing at a bus stop over the last week was an issue! All he was interested in stating was that they had provided 18months of service. not mentioning that included poor service, late bus and busses not turning up. The bus stock is also an ageing fleet which may not help service levels. So in essence on Friday late afternoon they have pulled the school service with no notice to the school or parents in time for contingencies to be put in place for Monday - Shocking lack of care of its customers who trusted them to safely and reliably transport their children. Notice the director has 6 dissolved companies to his name too!
My daughters school have informed us Your 742 service did not turn up for the schools first day back on 7th September 2021. Another company had to save the day. A real shame as the students have had enough disruption. Now today 20/09/21 we are told that with absolutely NO notice from yourselves the service is cancelled after weeks of no shows from your company. Your Company header page on your Website trumpets about how your Managing Director is a 'teacher ' himself and understands the importance of safe transport. Really? You've left students stranded on this route, which surely becomes a safeguarding issue? I'd appreciate your comments. Feel free to reply here.
Been using Green Bus for 2 years now. Initially I thought how convenient it was as the route was very close to our home. In theory. In practice my experience of dealing with this company was very unpleasant. Last year we paid £845 the annual pass but were only able to use it for about half of this time since schools were closed in March. Company refused to refund the money on pro-rata basis stating that "they were still running for key workers". Thus, I paid for half a year of no service. After numerous emails they agreed to refund £75 as a "goodwill gesture". This year we paid £895 for the annual pass and, of course, were unable to use them again for a number of months. This year there was no even a discussion about refunding customers. The company charges your for the full year, there are no monthly passes, it then it saves money by not running their buses during the lockdown or running limited services, and we are left out of pocket. But that's not even the major problem with them. Another problem happened this Spring right after schools reopened. One day I received a text message stating that "there was a covid case on a bus, therefore, all children must self-isolate for 10 days. The bus will not run for these 10 days". The school, however, stated that children DON'T need to self-isolate and need to come to school. There is no government requirement to keep them at home, and we need to make alternative arrangements to bring her in if the bus won't run. In other words, the company will gladly take your money and then you'll need to make other arrangement for your child to actually get to the school. When I emailed Green Bus, they stated that "they consulted a university virologist who recommended that children self-isolate", refused to accept that they are in breach in contract as "they are following an expert advice", and refused to refund the payment for the period they are not providing the service they've been paid for. Today this happened again! Another covid case and no service for the next week! Moreover, parents got about 3 hours notice to find the way to collect kids from school. If you are working a long distance away and your child doesn't know which public bus to use to get home, you are stuck. Green Bus doesn't care - they'll save another week of your payments and won't provide any service. Another problem is they made NO arrangement for safe travel for children. They are asked to wear masks, sit at specified seats, keep windows open. That's it. NO social distancing in place! While public transport was running half-empty with limited capacity, Green Bus kept their buses packed with children! Kids sat at EVERY available sit with no distancing whatsoever! When I emailed them my concerns about children's safety due to lack of distancing, the manager basically demonstrated that they don't care - he said "they are following their own risk assessment which does not require social distancing" and advised me to contact a solicitor if I'm not happy. And that's not it! The day after the half-term the bus was late as the bus driver was new and didn't know the route! He had no idea where to drive, when to turn and relied on children to tell him where he is supposed to travel! The company had a week of half term to train new drivers but this was not done. When I emailed about this issue, I was told that "there is no safety implications" no apology, of course. Well, I don't think so! I want to be certain that when I trust my child to a company, all people dealing with them are suitably qualified and trained. They charge for bus passes well in advance, trying to force you to pay for the full next year right now. Well, for me it's far too unreliable. If another covid wave hits us in Autumn, and schools close again, I don't want to be paying for nothing when they decide to "consult some expert who advises them not to run" while you trying to get your kids to school in some other way. And, by the way, they threatened to take legal action against me if I make this information public. Here we go - make your choice.
