We stayed for one night in January, during a cold couple of day, and the hotel was warm and inviting from the moment we arrived. It felt quite luxurious, with a nice smell and ornate features. The staff were friendly, and we liked the good security for accessing the floors. Our room was a decent size, very clean, and well-styled. A thoughtful touch was the inclusion of a yoga mat. The TV was high-quality and positioned perfectly for to view from the bed - there was also a side table with two seats we could do a bit of work from. The bed was large and firm—perhaps a little too firm for me—but still comfortable overall. The complimentary bottled water and fresh milk for tea was appreciated. Breakfast was excellent, and the restaurant itself was beautifully designed. The hotel felt like a 5-star property, well-maintained and in excellent condition. For £160, including breakfast, I couldn’t fault the experience. The location is good too—upmarket, quiet, and just a short walk to the city centre. The hotel has a grand feel, offering a good balance of modern luxury and classic elegance and I'd definitely recommend to anyone looking to stay in Birmingham.
“I had an amazing stay at The Grand Hotel Birmingham! The blend of historic elegance and modern comfort is stunning. The staff were incredibly welcoming, the rooms were luxurious, and the location was perfect for exploring the city. Don’t miss the cocktails at Madeleine Bar—they’re top-notch!”
We stayed here the weekend before Christmas. The hotel was beautifully decorated, grand but also cosy.nnThe room and facilities were lovely.nA great building to admire.nService was quite slow and chaotic at breakfast, possibly due to how busy it was.nnThe gym is a typical hotel gym. Not really enough if you're a dedicated gym goer.nnWill definitely stay here again.
First and foremost, the rooms were incredibly spacious and beautifully appointed. The attention to detail in the décor and layout created a truly luxurious atmosphere, making it feel more like a home than a hotel.nnThe room came with thoughtful touches that made my stay even more special—a complimentary Twirl chocolate bar and an espresso machine, which I thoroughly enjoyed. These little extras really set the hotel apart.nnThe location is ideal, just a short 7-minute walk from Birmingham New Street station, making it incredibly convenient for travelers.nnThe staff were fantastic—friendly, attentive, and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure a comfortable stay. From check-in to check-out, they made me feel welcome and well looked after.nnFinally, the bars at The Grand were absolutely lovely. The ambiance was perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring or attending meetings.
My review is about their Madeleine bar. I had my baby shower there, we were a rather large group and we celebrated with their afternoon tea. The whole process, from the initial enquiry to the party itself was extraordinary. The afternoon tea was delicious, the atmosphere was great and the members of staff were absolutely wonderful, I can't praise them and thank them enough!
