New on the menu steak and ale pie with mash and peas. Well the pie was size of small yoghurt pot.The mash was over microwaved and burnt. Peas where cold. Opened the pie up must have been a spoonful of gravy in it no steak or nothing. The manageress was lovely gave us a refund and was shocked how low quality it was. Shame was really looking forward to it
This was a superb pub for drinking, with a stylish throwback interior! The outside seating is lovely overlooking the streets of norwich, counter is well presented too. I had a pint of Stella Artois, appreciated the clean table and comfy seating!
Update as I passed through the other day. Nothing has changed, everything is still completely mad, but inconsistently mad, which is actually quite good.nnThe Glass House is like a roulette wheel because you never, ever know what you're going to get.nnIt's consistently inconsistent but the staff are excellent and it's gargantuan layout somehow seems awkward to navigate.nnThe garden seems to get the sun for about 30 minutes a day somehow and always seems to be cold.nnThe bar is huge, but the queue always seems to be three deep.nnFood arrives quickly but it's seldom what you ordered and sometimes this is good and sometimes this is bad.nnYesterday I got a lemon and herb chicken instead of a chargrilled chicken with gravy and mash and peas.nnThe mixture of flavours was particularly unique and one I'm only ever bound to encounter again at the glasshouse.nnStill, the pints are cheap and the app works well and just about everyone in the world is here for ages, because no one can afford to session drink in any other pubs any more.nnNotice how the food prices are creeping up though? If its going to serve 'cheap and cheerful, no-frills slush' then I'd like that to be reflected in the price.nn£14 for a lemon and herb and gravy and mash combo just isn't going to cut it.
It's a lovely big pub. It has a smoking and non-smoking beer garden. Car park at rear, public car park. Drinks are comparatively cheap for Norwich. Gets busy sometimes, good atmosphere when it is busy though. Benefits from a mixed clientele.
Have I got a story to tell you…nSo I parked up and went to pay my £3.20 but little did I know I only had £3.15 in change and it didn’t give any change, so what did I do? I asked people for 5p and apparently nobody carries change these days even if they have a german whip. So I do the unforgivable and spend £4 on parking. Anyhow, I sit here at “The Glass House”, Norwich and I find myself spending £3.20 on a new larger labelled at £4. I am over the moon at the 80p I have redeemed back that is rightfully mine. I’m absolutely and completely flabbergasted. I’m so incredibly jubilant. Please support this small business, I love it with all my heart. Thank you to the wetherspoon family. Merci Beaucoup
