My first visit. Unusual venue with a cafe in one half and a library the other. Good size pots of tea. Full range of coffees Nice deal on a scone / cream / jam and drink. I had their version of a panini + chips+ salad garnish. £8 Enough to feed two! Friendly staff.
Popped in this morning for breakfast small English it was delicious and lovely and hot. Also had hot toast and marmalade, no skimping on proper butter and marmalade. Service excellent and friendly. Also had a Capuccino. Excellent value.
Fitted party of 7 of all ages at short notice. Steak pie great and dirty fries really tasty and filling. Good coffee and mocha too.Food: 5/5
Appalling attitude of staff. Kicked off the table before finishing our meal despite 7 tables free.
First time here, just went into the gingerbread house to be rudely turned away as I said my daughter would be joining me with a pram. I appreciate it’s a small place but as there was lots of free tables would it have been too hard to just move a chair Awful customer service and very bad business practice won’t be returning.
Very friendly and accommodating staff, nothing too much trouble. Spotlessly clean. Very busy when we went, that speaks volumes as well. Would well recommend.Food: 5/5
Great place to grab some wholesome food and drinks. A really relaxing place to visit. 18th Dec 2018: Craft fair on until 4pm. Great selection of hand crafted local products and a great selection of stocking fillers perfect for Christmas. Don't miss out. Would highly recommend this place to everyone.
First visit and will not be our last, food quality and quantity exceeded my expectations. Well worth a visit. Parking: Just across the road
Used to be a wonderful little cake stop, can't help but feel a little underwhelmed today. Visited with my grandma at her request we've been before and she loved it. There was a sign informing us that there would be no food available between 1-2pm, fair enough. We arrived at 12.30 and the waitress was happy to assist us. She took our order and it arrived quickly. We had lattes but they were very milky and I'm not sure there was much coffee in there. I ordered a jacket potato with brie and cranberry. The potato was well cooked and there was plenty of filling, though it might have been nice to have the brie warm , instead of cold from the fridge. Grandma had a cheese scone which came with cream and jam. This was a bit confusing does anyone have cream and jam with cheese?! but apparently it didn't taste of cheese anyway, so the cream was quickly slathered on. Our waitress was lovely but it was a little disappointing to hear some other staff moaning about the larger table that was due later on. One waitress was clearly not looking forward to the party and almost resented the table arriving. She definitely didn't love her job. Not bad, but a few tweaks would make it much better.
There was very little left on the menu to pick from so I opted for fish and chips as it looked good on a neighbouring table. After ordering they came back and said they had ran out of the chunky chips too so had to have skinny oven chips. Fish was cooked from frozen so had a strange taste. My mum's Granary bread was going stale like it had been out of the bread packet a while which is shame as I heard good reports from this place.
