First time visiting today and glad we did. The food was lovely and you got a really good size meal. The chicken Parmesan and steak pie were delicious not to mention the apple crumble! Staff were so friendly and really looked after us not to mention our dog who they gave a bowl of water and even doggies biscuits! Will be returning!
Really good meal here last night, the host Jo was extra good and found us a seat even though it was fully booked, the food was good and portion sizes massive, I went for the OMG hot chicken parmesan with home cut chips, it was massive enough to feed 2 people which for the price was really good value, I also ordered some garlic bread which was nice and rhubard sponge with custard for desert always room for desert, the atmosphere in the pub was nice and friendly and the staff were attentive and polite, overall it was a really good experience and if I lived locally I'd be there all the time I would highly recommend a visit if your looking for a good hearty pub lunch/dinner or if your just wanting a drink or 2
Never fails to satisfy this place. Staff are brilliant. Landlady has good crack and friendly along with the barman who always tells me everything I ask for is sold out for a laugh. Food is delicious and love the wine. They all care about the place and the customers. Keep up the fantastic work
I visit regularly, both with family and with people I support. Food is always delicious and excellent value . Service is great. Can't fault anything. Looking at the bad reviews, there's some really strange people out there! And probably nothing would please them. I love to read Jo's replies to the complainers. And it's clear they don't have a sense of humour. Highly recommended for good home cooked pub food.
Visited the Gables, first time in years. It was tea time so not to busy. We were shocked. Firstly by the price, second the service and last but not least the food. Excellent value for money, good choice and tasty food. Plenty of it!! Last but not least we were served by polite, well mannered and friendly staff.
Had a fabulous Sunday Dinner at The Gables, still warm enough to sit outside which was nice as we had our little dog with us, although it is a dog friendly pub so she would have been welcomed. Staff very prompt and friendly. Definitely will be returning. Thanks
It’s a shame about this place really! The food is really nice but the owners are really bad! She reminds me of something like the game HELLO NEIGHBOR! Her husband stands and bar and drinks drink drinks and she just moans if you complain she openly admits it with a number of snarky comments around the bar, if she was a lot more friendly this place would be the place to go as her food is nice just a shame her personality is not
We recently moved onto the new estate out the back of The Gables and had not visited before then. Now it’s fair to say we feel so lucky to have this pub as our local. Lovely range of drinks, including Aspal Cider which I’m rarely able to find in pubs. Amazing food, great vegetarian options for me I’ve had something different every time we’ve visited and it hasn’t disappointed. The price of the food is fantastic value and the added bonus of desserts like your Nanna used to make always top off a great visit. We’ve recently started taking our little cocker spaniel and she pulls us to go into the pub now on our walks, they’ve done her sausages in a dog bowl and a mini Sunday dinner the other day which we weren’t charged extra for. Overall a great traditional pub with traditional customer service and a credit to the area!
Went for Sunday lunch the week before Christmas Day. Only option was the Sunday roast with a choice of meat. Meal was very good. Staff very polite. Prices reasonable. Worth the visit
Brilliant food and amazing service, great place to relax and eat.
