Room was clean and comfortable but was quite cold. There was also a lot of noise from the street outside but you couldn't hear the pub itself. The shower was amazing - very very powerful and no problems with hot water. The drink selection is great in the pub - especially if you like gin.
Went in on boxing day for a birthday drink best gin cocktail next time I'm up there will definitely go back
Terrible accommodation! I found the general service lacking on all fronts I had the lack of pleasure of staying in two of their rooms. Both rooms were dated, plaster falling from all corners and miss matched with decor no sound proofing at all in the rooms so all noises outside could be heard at all times & was greeted by a stained half used toilet roll so had to buy my own. Staff were rude, absent and unapproachable. As an establishment that boasts 4 stars on their boards I would expect a lot more. The staircase to the rooms was dangerous beyond any acceptability. The fire alarm cords were not correctly restrained agents the walls. Housekeeping was lacking, I was greeted by rooms that didn’t have working heating or bathroom facilities and bathroom tiles didn’t fit the room at all and were chipped and dirty and were cobwebbed to high hell. No food facilities on site either. As an establishment that boasts 4 stars I would have expected more or at least the basics! Avoid this place at all costs if you can your money would be better spent with traveloge! Or anywhere else! Such a shame as a building in the right hands could be amazing such a shame that whoever is in charge did what they did with the place as it is awful, unappealing, DIRTY, knackered & uninviting.
Beautiful outdoor area and a quaint traditional style pub. Had a fantastic Saturday night sitting in the pretty yard watching the rock band Crimson Child. Relaxed atmosphere, yet some got up and danced. Very enjoyable
My 16 year old daughter & I bought a coffee and soft drink Friday afternoon and sat outside in the sunshine. The drinks were a welcome relief and the gent that served us was very friendly and polite. The courtyard was tastefully equipt with comfortable, clean seating and tables - along with window boxes and lighting I imagine very pleasant when the sun dips. The inside of the building - including the toilet facilities - was spotless and tastefully decorated. I would highly recommend.
Very disappointed with the room. Smelt of mould and flies everywhere. The bathroom was covered in flies. Base of the shower was absolutely full of dead flies and so was the toilet. When we complained we were just given some fly spray along with an apology. The room certainly hadn't been cleaned before our stay. It ruined our stay. Staff were lovely and polite.
The Local for 3 year now, probably The Local for all time. Above average value on an EXTENSIVE range of good quality beverages and crisps and nuts. The TV room is small but a good feature if you're lucky enough to get in there for matchday. The two large booths are comfortable and accommodate large groups as soon as they're allowed again. A massive outside sitting area is grand for summer nights. The decor is both tasteful and hilarious. The barstaff are all super friendly and helpful even given how much extra pressure put on them they deserve a pay rise!. Highly highly recommended especially to treat yourself for a spot of daytime drinking
Room was dirty, including the carpet staircase leading up to the room. There was orange/brown urine stains on the back of the toilet from the previous people. In the ceiling above the door was a hole that looked like water damage. At 7:30am, room above were showering and the water was leaking into our room through the hole onto the carpet, preventing us from leaving our room until it stopped. Room dimly lit, very difficult to get ready and my wife to do makeup. As well as dirt, a lot of mould in the shower room, there was no way we were going to use it. Spoke to staff when we left and nothing they could do for us. Avoid this place!
Lovely little pub tucked away or should I say friar tucked away lots of speciality gins and nice warm welcome. Worth a visit
The waiter was friendly and helpful with advice on where to park as there is no on site parking. Unfortunately the room was absolutely awful. There were clumps of hair on the floor and bugs ALL over the place dead and alive. Including on the 'clean' bed linen... Which was ripped, next to were the drinking glasses were kept and in the sink. The bed frame was snapped at the bottom and someone had clearly tried to mend it with nails. There was also. Plug socket hanging off the wall Really unclean and unsafe... I will say the manager who didn't arrive till 5 we arrived at 4 ! Did give us a refund and even included the cost towards a room we booked in an alternative BnB.
